Brighton are aiming to win back-to-back games against Tottenham for the first time in the 122 year history of this fixture, partially due to the fact the Seagulls have won only one of their last 12 away games at Spurs, losing ten of them.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Brighton & Hove Albion preview

It's glory glory Tottenham Hotspur who, on one historic night in Bilbao, have wiped away the memories of an entire season. On Wednesday night, Brennan Johnson was the hero as Spurs beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League Final at San Mamés. This ends Tottenham's 17-year trophy draught and secures their place in next season's Champions League.

Back in September, Ange Postecoglou declared that he always wins a trophy in his second season and has delivered, despite the fact his team have suffered a whopping 21 Premier League defeats, and are down in 17th place. So, despite their horrendous league position, this will be an afternoon of celebration in North London, with every Spurs supporter in attendance set to be in party spirit.

As for Brighton & Hove Albion, they're in with an outside chance of European qualification, but it's very much out of their hands. On Monday night, the Seagulls twice came from behind to beat champions Liverpool in their final home match of the season.

Yasin Ayari and Kaoru Mitoma both equalised before, with only five minutes remaining, substitute Jack Hinshelwood forced home the winner, turning home Matt O'Riley's cross. This win means Fabian Hürzeler's team have collected ten points from their last four matches, despite having been winless in five league games beforehand.

As a result, the Albion are eighth, three points clear of Brentford, and just a point here will cement that position. This could become a Conference League spot, but only if Chelsea finish exactly seventh and then win this season's Conference League on Wednesday.

Both of those outcomes are very plausible, so all Brighton can do is get a result here and then cheer on the Blues in Wrocław in mid-week. Back in October, the Seagulls came from 2-0 down to beat Spurs at home on a memorable afternoon in Sussex, and they'll surely fancy their chances of victory in North London too.

Tottenham Hotspur team news

Fair to say, Spurs have prioritise celebrating over preparation for this match, so expect Ange Postecoglou to make wholesale changes to his lineup. Antonín Kinský, Djed Spence, Kevin Danso, Archie Gray, Ben Davies, Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel are amongst those expected to come in.

Meantime, Radu Drăgușin, James Maddison, Lecas Bergvall and Dejan Kulušeksi remain sidelined.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Brighton & Hove Albion: (4-2-3-1): Kinský; Porro, Danso, Davies, Spence; Gray, Bissouma, Matar Sarr, Odobert, Tel; Son Heung-min.

Tottenham Hotspur player to watch vs Brighton & Hove Albion

After ten years, Son Heung-min finally got his hands on some silverware as a Tottenham player on Wednesday, now looking to add to his 11 goals this season.

Brighton & Hove Albion team news

Ferdi Kadıoğlu, Tariq Lamptey, James Milner, Solly March and Georginio Rutter are all injured while, even though he'd now served his three-match suspension, João Pedro was not even on the bench against Liverpool, following a reported altercation with Jan Paul van Hecke in training.

With the Brazilian unlikely to feature here, potentially having played his last game for the Seagulls, Brajan Gruda could keep his place in attack, with Kaoru Mitoma hoping to return out-wide. Lastly, centre-back Igor has been an unused substitute for the last three matches, hoping to feature for the first time since 4 January due to a hamstring injury.

Brighton & Hove Albion predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Wieffer, Webster, van Hecke, Estupiñán; Baleba, Ayari, Minteh, Mitoma; Gruda, Welbeck.

Brighton & Hove Albion player to watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

Danny Welbeck has hit ten Premier League goals in a single season for the very first time, but he's only ever scored thrice in 25 encounters with Spurs, one of which did come in October.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Brighton & Hove Albion prediction

Given that Tottenham have already lost 21 league games, why not another? We are confidently backing Brighton for a high-scoring win against a Spurs side who, fair to say, have not done much training ahead of this final day fixture: Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Brighton & Hove Albion.
