West Ham United are targeting back-to-back away wins at Tottenham for the first time in 58 years, although Spurs have claimed victory in 14 of their last 26 home clashes against the Hammers.

Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United Preview

Following a calamitous collapse before the international break, can Tottenham Hotspur get back to winning ways? Last time out, Spurs seemed set to beat Brighton in Sussex, 2-0 up and cruising by half time, with Brennan Johnson and James Maddison the scorers. However, they then conceded thrice in the space of 18 second half minutes, thereby slumping to a 3-2 defeat, much to Ange Postecoglou's chagrin.

This is the tenth time in Premier League history that Spurs have lost a game in which they've been two goals in front which, unsurprisingly, is a record. Before this, Tottenham had actually won five successive matches in all competitions, their longest streak since March 2021, so will be desperate to prove that was merely a blip when one of their fiercest rivals pay them a visit on Saturday lunchtime.

As for West Ham United, despite a rather underwhelming start to the Julen Lopetegui-era, victory would see them leapfrog their hosts. Last time out, having actually lost each of his first three home league games in charge, it was fourth time lucky for Lopetegui at the London Stadium, as his side smashed Ipswich 4-1; Michail Antonio breaking the deadlock inside 60 seconds, before Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paquetá were also on target.

This is only the Irons' second victory of the season so far, although supporters will be hoping this London derby, followed by next Sunday's visit of Manchester United, can spark their campaign into life. West Ham have not won back-to-back Premier League games since March; now would be a pretty good time to change that fact.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Richarlison and Wilson Odobert remain sidelined, while Son Heung-min hasn't featured since the win over Qarabağ on 26 September, also sitting out both of South Korea's World Cup qualifiers too, due to a hamstring injury, so remains a doubt. Thus, Ange Postecoglou could name an unchanged line-up, featuring both James Maddison and Dejan Kuluševski as part of a very adventurous midfield trio.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs West Ham United: (4-1-4-1): Vicario; Porro, van de Ven, Romero, Udogie; Bentancur, Kuluševski, Maddison, Johnson, Werner; Solanke.

Tottenham Hotspur Player to Watch vs West Ham United

Brennan Johnson has scored in six successive Spurs appearances, before continuing his hot-streak by tapping in from mere picometres out as Wales drew in Reykjavík last Friday. Since WWII, Clive Allen in 1986 is the only Tottenham player to have scored in seven consecutive outings for the club, so can Johnson match his record?

West Ham United Team News

For the visitors, Niclas Füllkrug remains the only absentee, meaning Julen Lopetegui could also name an unchanged team. Summer signings Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman will start a fourth successive match alongside one-another, with Tomáš Souček partnering Guido Rodríguez in midfield, chosen over Edson Álvarez. Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paquetá and Michail Antonio all found the net against Ipswich and very few teams can boast more attacking firepower than that.

West Ham United predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-2-3-1): Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson; Souček, Rodríguez, Bowen, Paquetá, Kudus; Antonio.

West Ham United Player to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur

Michail Antonio has scored six career goals against Tottenham, including becoming the first visiting player to score a winner at their new stadium in 2019. Having only netted more frequently in his career against Watford, the Jamaican international would love to add to his tally.

Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United Prediction

We are cautiously backing Tottenham to collect all three points from this London derby, rediscovering the form they showed prior to that disasterclass at Brighton. Spurs have been generally impressive this season, while West Ham are so hit-and-miss that you just never know what you're going to get for them: Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 West Ham United.
