Tottenham have won their last eight FA Cup ties against non-league opponents, their most-recent such defeat coming in 1915, so will Spurs avoid an historic upset on Sunday?

Tamworth vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview

In 1991, Tottenham Hotspur became the record, eight-times FA Cup winners; at the time, it would have been unfathomable that Spurs would still be on eight triumphs 34 years later, so will this be the start of a monumentous run? On Wednesday, Ange Postecoglou's side moved a step closer to EFL Cup glory, beating Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg of their semi-final tie, with Lucas Bergvall lashing home the night's only goal four minutes from time.

There is still plenty of work to do when they visit Anfield in early-February, but the Spurs faith certainly now have hope. Meanwhile, cup competitions are the most-important aspect of Tottenham's season right now, considering they're down in 12th in the Premier League, their sole victory in eight league matches coming at rock-bottom Southampton. This forthcoming mid-week, Spurs face Arsenal in a North London derby, so will they warm up for this always hotly-anticipated fixture by booking their place in round four?

Well, if that doesn't come to pas, Tamworth will have just pulled off one of the greatest FA Cup shocks in the 154-year history of the competition. The Lambs were National League North champions last season, achieving a second successive promotion, back in the fifth-tier for the first time in 11 years.

Given their lowly status, Andy Peaks' side have had to overcome Macclesfield, Huddersfield in a huge shock and then Burton Albion on penalties, thereby reaching the third round for only the fourth time, seeking to go beyond this stage for the first time ever. Tamworth's last home game, a 1-1 draw with Forest Green Rovers on Boxing Day, attracted just 1,721 spectators, with a fair amount more expected to pack out the Lamb Ground come Sunday, so can the non-league side dump out Spurs?

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Having just faced Liverpool, and with Arsenal to come, Ange Postecoglou would like to heavily rotate, but isn't really able to. In goal, with Guglielmo Vicario injured and Fraser Forster ill, Antonín Kinský was thrown in for his debut in mid-week, mere days after arriving from Slavia Prague, set for another opportunity to impress. At the back, there's still no Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies or Destiny Udogie, so Sergio Reguilón could be handed a rare start, while fans are clamouring for 18-year-old Alfie Dorrington to make his maiden senior start. Rodrigo Bentancur was concerningly stretched off very early on in the EFL Cup, so is unlikely to feature, but Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison can return, having been suspended. Teenager Yang Min-hyeok is in line for his debut, having arrived from Gangwon FC, while Richarlison, who's now back in training, could feature for the first time since 3 November due to a hamstring injury; Wilson Odobert is still out long-term.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Tamworth: (4-3-3): Kinský; Spence, Gray, Dorrington, Reguilón; Matar Sarr, Bergvall, Maddison; Moore, Werner, Lankshear.

Tottenham Hotspur Player to Watch vs Tamworth

19-year-old Will Lankshear scored against Galatasaray earlier this season, albeit his night was rather overshadowed by the fact he was sent off soon after in İstanbul, but potentially set to lead the line here, can he fire Spurs into round four?

Tamworth vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction

As much as everyone, Spurs fans aside, tuning in on Sunday lunchtime would love to see an historic shock, we simply cannot see it: Tamworth 0-3 Tottenham Hotspur.
