Chelsea have won three of their previous four meetings with Real Betis, these coming in the Cup Winners' Cup in 1998 and the Champions League in 2005, albeit they were beaten 1-0 when the pair last met at the Benito Villamarín two decades ago.

Also, each of the last 19 UEFA club competition finals between a Spanish team and a non-Spanish team have been won by the La Liga outfit, dating back to 2001.

Real Betis vs Chelsea preview

To date, Chelsea have won two Champions Leagues, two Europa Leagues, two Cup Winners' Cups and two UEFA Super Cups, now seeking to complete the set of continental honours. Enzo Maresca's side have, in truth, found the Conference League all too easy throughout this season, first winning all six league phase fixtures, scoring 26 goals. Since, they've comfortably ousted København, Legia Warszawa and then Djurgårdens during the knockout phase, so come into the final as firm favourites.

On Sunday, the Blues confirmed that they will be returning to the Champions League next season, securing fourth place in the Premier League by beating Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground, with Levi Colwill the match-winner shortly after half time.

Maresca's team have therefore won five of their final six league fixtures to conclude the campaign, now looking to cement this as a very successful season by sealing silverware. Plenty of Chelsea supporters will be making the pilgrimage to Wrocław for the club's eight European final, but will their team claim the trophy?

In stark contrast, this is the very first time Real Betis will compete in a UEFA club competition final, the 12th different Spanish club to feature in one, so what an occasion this'll be for all Béticos worldwide.

Manuel Pellegrini's side finished down in 15th in the league phase, ignominiously beaten by Mladá Boleslav in November, but have since overcome Gent, Vitória de Guimarães, Jagiellonia Białystok and then Fiorentina in the knockouts. Their semi-final finished 3-3 after 180 minutes, meaning extra time was required in Florence, with Abde Ezzalzouli making the telling contribution late on.

Domestically, los Verdiblancos ended up sixth in La Liga, failing to win any of their final four matches, most-recently held to a 1-1 draw by Valencia on Friday night. This means Betis' 20 year wait for Champions League qualification goes on, but they are guaranteed a spot in the Europa League, thereby qualifying for UEFA competition in five successive seasons for the first time in the club's history.

During this La Liga campaign, Pellegrini's team beat both Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid at the Benito Villamarín, holding Barcelona to a pair of draws too, so they will certainly be the toughest opponent Chelsea have faced in Europe all season. So, can the side from Seville upset the odds at Stadion Wrocław, or will Chelsea simply prove to be too strong in southwestern Poland?

Real Betis team news

Manuel Pellegrini has been prioritising this competition in recent weeks, which goes some way to explaining their downturn in league results, continuing to rest and rotate against Valencia on Friday. This game was brought forward, so could those two days of extra rest prove important?

In goal, Fran Vieites has started all eight Conference League knockout ties, despite only making four La Liga appearances all season, but he has suffered a muscle injury, so 38 year old Adrián, formerly of West Ham and Liverpool, is set to be donning the gloves. He saved the decisive spot-kick in the 2019 UEFA Super Cup in İstanbul against Chelsea, so could he be the hero again?

Elsewhere, Héctor Bellerín, who also has previous when it comes to beating Chelsea in finals, suffered a season-ending knee injury in the semi-final in Florence, so Youssouf Sabaly will start at right-back. Pablo Fornals meantime could become the first-ever two-time Conferene League winner.

Elsewhere in attack, Antony has been on fire since joining Betis in January, scoring nine goals in 25 appearances, most-recently on target on Friday. He will start on the right-wing while, in attack, Cédric Bakambu's tally of seven goals in Europe could see him get the nod over Cucho Hernández.

Real Betis predicted lineup vs Chelsea: (4-2-3-1): Adrián; Sabaly, Bartra, Natan, Rodríguez; Cardoso, Lo Celso, Antony, Isco, Abde; Bakambu.

Real Betis player to watch vs Chelsea

There's obviously been a lot of talk about Antony, but Isco remains Betis' talisman. The 33-year-old has scored 12 goals this season, on top of ten assists, so will the five-times Champions League winner fire los Verdiblancos to their first-ever continental honour?

Chelsea team news

Enzo Maresca has rotated throughout the Conference League campaign, with youngsters Reggie Walsh, Shim Mheuka, Samuel Rak-Sakyi, Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong amongst those playing key roles, but surely all of the big guns will be deployed in Wrocław.

The manager has already confirmed that Filip Jörgensen will be donning the gloves, having started 13 of the 14 Conference League matches en route to this final. Meantime, Wesley Fofana and Christopher Nkunku remain injured, while Roméo Lavia cannot feature as he's not in the UEFA squad.

In better news, Nicolas Jackson will return, having sat out the last two Premier League matches suspended, so will be refreshed and ready to lead the line. Lastly, at the back, having started against both Man United and Forest, will Tosin Adarabioyo keep his place, chosen over Trevoh Chalobah?

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Real Betis: (4-2-3-1): Jörgensen; James, Adarabioyo, Colwill, Cucurella; Fernández, Caicedo, Neto, Palmer, Madueke; Jackson.

Chelsea player to watch vs Real Betis

Cole Palmer is yet to score in the Conference League this season, in fact he's only netted once in 22 appearances in any competition since 15 January, but he certainly has the talent to be the match-winner in this final.

Real Betis vs Chelsea prediction

All three Confernce League Finals to date have been decided by a solitary goal, and we're forecasting that this trend will continue, with Chelsea just getting over the line: Real Betis 1-2 Chelsea.
