On Sunday, despite not loads of international football, there were a few Premier League stars in action for their countries. Let’s see how they all got on, both individually and collectively.

Dean Henderson, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Marc Guehi, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Declan Rice, Cole Palmer and Jack Grealish all started for England as they got back to winning ways with a 3-1 win over Finland in Helsinki. Noni Madueke, Ollie Watkins, Rico Lewis, and Phil Foden were all introduced in the second half by interim manager Lee Carsley.

Grealish, Alexander-Arnold, and Rice all scored for England before they conceded a consolation goal late on. Watkins assisted Rice’s goal.

Sunday was jam-packed with surprise victories in the Premier League

Odysseas Vlachodimos and Konstantinos Mavropanos started for Greece, as they continued their perfect start to life in the nations league with a 2-0 win over Ireland at home, in what has been an incredibly tough week for everyone concerned. Konstantinos Tsimikas was a late sub. Caiomhin Kelleher, Dara O’Shea, Nathan Collins, Chiedozie Ogbene, and Sammie Szmodics started for the visitors, whilst Jack Taylor and Kasey McAteer were subs.

As it stands, Greece are top of the group with 12 points from four games, England second with nine points from four games, Ireland third with three points from four games, and Finland rock bottom with zero points from their four games so far.

Kristoffer Ajer, Sander Berge and Erling Haaland all started for Norway as they were on the end of a 5-1 hiding away to Austria in the nations league. Jorgen Strand Larsen was introduced to the action with six minutes left by manager Stale Solbakken.

Austria remain top of their group with seven points from four games, although Norway, their opponents, are third despite also having seven points from their four games so far.

In the early hours of the day, BST, Matt Turner and Antonee Robinson started for the USMNT, as they got the Mauricio Pochettino era off to a winning start with a 2-0 friendly win over Panama.
