Tottenham Hotspur vs Qarabağ: TV channel, prediction, team news and lineups
By Ben Gray
As is well documented, it's approaching 17-years since Tottenham Hotspur last won a major trophy, so could the UEFA Europa League offer them the perfect chance to change that?
Tottenham Hotspur vs Qarabağ Preview
Spurs supporters hope this'll be the first of many Europa League matches they play this season, possibly as many as 17, so will this be the start of a memorable continental campaign?
In the new-look league phase, Tottenham have eight games scheduled, including tough trips to both Galatasaray and Rangers, as well as a glamour game against Roma, so collecting three points from this opener feels important.
At the weekend, Ange Postecoglou's side silenced some of the critics by beating Brentford 3-1, coming from a goal down to achieve this, with Dominic Solanke opening his account for the club, before Brennan Johnson and James Maddison were both on target.
Last mid-week, Spurs came extremely close to an embarrassing EFL Cup exit, 1-0 down at Coventry with just two minutes to play, only for Djed Spence to equalise before Johnson snatched victory in stoppage time. In short, having won only two of five Premier League games to date, Tottenham are struggling for consistency, but should comfortably win this European tie.
As for Qarabağ, they've become familiar faces to European football fans, completely monopolising the Azerbaijani Premier League, winning the title in ten of the last 11 seasons. This has given them the platform to compete in Europe, with this the 11th straight season they've featured in a UEFA group stage.
During the summer, the Horeseman beat both Lincoln Red Imps and Ludogorets Razgrad in Champions League qualifying, before being smashed 5-0 by GNK Dinamo Zagreb in the play-off round, thereby dropping down into this competition.
Last season, Gurban Gurbanov's team reached the knockout phase of this tournament for the very first time, coming agonisingly close to dumping out eventual finalists Bayer Leverkusen in the last 16, so are very much targeting a top 24 finish this time round.
Away from home however, excluding qualifiers, Qarabağ have only ever won nine of 33 European fixtures, losing all three previous outings in England, conceding ten times. Thus, a comfortable home win is widely-expected in North London.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News
Potentially with Sunday's trip to Old Trafford in mind, Ange Postecoglou is expected to rotate his line-up, even if some of his squad players didn't exactly enhance their case for minutes in Coventry.
Bizarrely, Cristian Romero is suspended having been sent off during Spurs' most-recent UEFA competition match against A.C. Milan 568 days ago, while Wilson Odobert and Richarlison are out injured, thus goalkeeper Fraser Forster, Radu Drăgușin, Ben Davies, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Timo Werner are amongst those likely to come into the team.
Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Qarabağ: (4-2-3-1): Forster; Spence, Drăgușin, Davies, Reguilón; Bergvall, Gray, Johnson, Kuluševski, Werner; Solanke.
Tottenham Hotspur Player to Watch vs Qarabağ
After bagging his first goal for Tottenham at the weekend, Dominic Solanke is set to lead the line again, given that teenager Mikey Moore is the only other centre-forward option, so can Solanke further build his confidence with a goal or two here?
Qarabağ Team News
Centre-back Kevin Medina is suspended, having been sent off during the second leg of their Champions League play-off defeat to Dinamo Zagreb. Usual first choice goalkeeper Şahruddin Mahammadaliyev is out injured, so Mateusz Kochalski will be tasked with keeping Tottenham out.
Qarabağ predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-2-3-1): Kochalski; Silva, Mustafazade, Hüseynov, Cafarguliyev; Romão, P Andrade, Benzia, L Andrade, Zoubir; Juninho.
Qarabağ Player to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur
Juninho is Qarabağ's primary goal threat, having scored eight goals already this season, most-recently on target during Friday's victory over rivals Neftçi Bakı. Six of the Brazilian's goals came during Champions League qualifying, to add to the five he managed in last season's Europa League, most-notably on target during the historic win over Braga, as well as both legs of their clash with Bayer Leverkusen back in March.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Qarabağ Prediction
As referenced, a comfortable Spurs win is surely on the cards. Even if Ange Postecoglou does rotate heavily, his team should cruise to victory, given that Qarabağ are rarely able to compete on the road when traveling to top-level sides: Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Qarabağ.
