2) Daniel Muñoz: Colombia & Crystal Palace
Colombia are now unbeaten in 25 internationals, dating back to 1 February 2022, beating both Paraguay and Costa Rica at this tournament, before Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Brazil saw them clinch top spot in Group D. One could single out so many individuals from los Cafeteros' team, namely Liverpool's Luis Díaz, who's look very sharp, or 32 year old captain James Rodríguez, who's been back to his majestic best, albeit that doesn't fit the assignment, considering he plays for São Paulo.
Instead, we're going to give Crystal Palace right-back Daniel Muñoz some love. The 28 year old joined the Eagles from Genk for €8 million in January, looking impressive as Oliver Glasner's side concluded the campaign by accumulating 19 points out of a possible 21. During this period, Muñoz opened his international account against Spain at the London Stadium, continuing this scoring spree stateside, heading home during the win over Paraguay, with club teammate Jefferson Lerma doing the same moments later. Muñoz was then on target during the draw with Brazil in Santa Clara, equalising on the cusp of half time, with these goals coming on top of 19 tackles, the most of any player at the competition.
Set to face Panama in the quarter-finals in Arizona on Saturday night, Colombia are likely to go even further at this summer's Copa, giving Muñoz more opportunities to shine, providing Palace supporters with something to look forward to when domestic football returns next month.
