According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is garnering interest from the Premier League after his impressive display in La Liga. It is believed he has a release clause of €40 million.

Filip Jorgensen might move to England this summer

The 22-year-old Filip Jorgensen had an encouraging season for Villarreal despite the Yellow Submarine having the third-worst defensive record in the league. As per FBref, he made the most number of saves(143 ) in La Liga in 2023/24. This has earned him interest from the EPL trio Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The trio is looking at Jorgensen among other targets.

Jorgensen joined the Villarreal youth setup in 2017 and made his La Liga debut on Jan 30, 2023. He had firmly established himself in the Villarreal first team this season and had made 36 appearances in the league. As per Relevo, Villarreal might be interested in selling him, but any club interested in Jorgensen might be expected to pay an amount closer to the release clause of €40 million.

Newcastle United are looking for a player to compete with Nick Pope, who missed the majority of the season due to injury. They have cooled their interest in Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after learning it will take a bid north of £30 million to secure his services. They have shifted their attention to Filip Jorgensen and Valencia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. Newcastle are likely to move for Jorgensen if they can't land Mamardashvili. Jorgensen's release clause might be a stumbling block as Newcastle weren't willing to pay such a huge amount for their primary target Ramsdale.

Chelsea have been disappointed with their goalkeepers' performances in recent years. From Kepa Arrizabalaga to Petrovic, none have met the required standards. Chelsea are looking for an upgrade in that department. Hence the interest in Jorgensen. The London club are also believed to be monitoring Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.
