You'd be forgiven for forgetting there was a full slate of Premier League fixtures this weekend, with several minds instead on the end of the summer transfer window.
Premier League matchday 3 preview
Alas, there is. To kick off the weekend, Brighton and Hove Albion bring Arsenal to the Amex, for their second early kick-off at home in a row. At least one of the two sides' 100% record will be wiped this weekend. Brighton will be without new signing Matt O'Riley, after he was forced off early into his debut against Crawley. Riccardo Calafiori could be in line to make his first start for the visitors.
Brentford host Southampton, as they look to bounce back from last weekends defeat at Anfield. Southampton have lost both of their first two games back in the Premier League and will be desperate to get on the board, even with a draw.
Everton host Bournemouth, in what already feels like a must-win game for the hosts. Sean Dyche's side has lost both of their opening two games, scoring 0 goals and conceding 7. Bournemouth are also without a win but rather drew both of their first two games. Kepa could make his debut for the visitors.
Ipswich host Fuham, and will be glad to have a game they feel they have a chance of winning after facing Liverpool and Manchester City in their first two games. Fulham will be looking to make it two wins in a row against promoted sides, having beaten Leicester City last time out.
Leicester themselves host Aston Villa in an all-Midlands affair. Leicester will be looking for another credible performance at home, having done really well in the second half to earn a point against Spurs on the opening weekend. Villa will want to bounce back from their defeat at home to Arsenal last weekend.
Nottingham Forest host Wolves, as Nuno, Willy Boly and recently selected for England duty Morgan Gibbs-White face their former club. Wolves' new signing Sam Johnstone could start between the sticks after Jose Sa struggled against Chelsea last weekend.
In the final game of the day, West Ham United host Manchester City. It has been a good week for the hosts, beating Crystal Palace in the league, and then AFC Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup. This game will be the toughest test possible to continue that momentum. Ilkay Gundogan could make his first start for City since returning to the club.
On Sunday, Chelsea host Crystal Palace. The Blues lost their Conference League qualifying second leg but advanced to the main competition 3-2 on aggregate. Palace have managed to keep Marc Guehi at the club, despite heavy interest from Newcastle. Oliver Glasner's men got a huge morale-boosting 4-0 victory against Norwich City in the Carabao Cup.
Newcastle United host Tottenham. The Magpies have scored 10 goals and conceded once in their last two home games against Spurs. Fabian Schar is suspended for this game, but Dominic Solanke is unlikely to be fit in time for the game.
To finish the weekend, Manchester United host arch-rivals Liverpool. United will be without Mason Mount, who has to deal with yet another hamstring injury. Liverpool manager Arne Slot says Federico Chiesa most likely will not feature in the game.
