Manchester City have won each of their last 16 meetings with Fulham, scoring 49 goals and keeping ten clean sheets, with the Cottagers' most-recent victory over the Sky Blues coming all the way back in 2009. So, this match will only have one outcome, right?

Manchester City vs Fulham Preview

After back-to-back Premier League draws, most expect Manchester City to pick up three points this time. Last weekend, despite taking the lead through Joško Gvardiol, the Citizens were held to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle at St James' Park, their second successive league stalemate, having just about salvaged a share of the spoils against Arsenal a week earlier.

As a result, Pep Guardiola's side have slipped down to second, a point below early front-runners Liverpool. In mid-week, the Sky Blues claimed their first Champions League victory of the season, smashing Slovan Bratislava 4-0; İlkay Gündoğan, Phil Foden, Erling Braut Håland and then James McAtee all on target at Národný futbalový štadión. As Man City return to domestic business, most are forecasting an equally comfortable victory.

Fulham though venture north unbeaten in five, dating back to the opening day, looking to put together a six-match undefeated streak in the Premier League for the first time since October 2010. Last weekend, Marco Silva's side became the first team to beat Nottingham Forest this season, with Raúl Jiménez's penalty the difference beside the River Trent, propelling the Cottagers up to sixth.

There is plenty of positivity in that particular part of West London just now although, given the Whites' horrendous record against the champions, it'll require a miracle for their unbeaten run to remain in tact.

Manchester City Team News

There's no Rodri nor Kevin De Bruyne and, in the long-term absence of the pivotal Spaniard, Pep Guardiola has already trialed two midfield duos; Mateo Kovačić partnered Rico Lewis last weekend, before Matheus Nunes and İlkay Gündoğan got the nod in Slovakia. Stefan Ortega was handed a rare start on Tuesday, but Ederson will be back in goal here, with Rúben Dias, Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva also set to return to the XI.

Manchester City predicted lineup vs Fulham: (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Rúben Dias, Gvardiol; Lewis, Kovačić, Silva, Foden, Savinho; Håland.

Manchester City Player to Watch vs Fulham

Erling Braut Håland has scored five goals in just four appearances against Fulham, including a hat-trick when the Whites most-recently visited last season, so we're very confident that he'll add to his 11 goals already this season.

Fulham Team News

Having had a full week to prepare, Marco Silva is expected to name an unchanged side. Given that he has picked up four yellow cards in six matches already, another caution for Saša Lukić here would see him sit out Fulham's next fixture, at home to Aston Villa, suspended.

Fulham predicted lineup vs Manchester City: (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Lukić, Pereira, Traoré, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jiménez.

Fulham Players to Watch vs Manchester City

Raúl Jiménez has now scored in three successive Premier League games, achieving this for the first time since November 2019, seeking to score in four successive outings in the competition for the very first time.

Manchester City vs Fulham Prediction

As referenced throughout, a comfortable Manchester City victory is a formality. The Sky Blues have won 16 of their last 19 Premier League home games played at 3 o'clock on a Saturday, most-recently losing such a fixture three years ago, so despite their own decent form, we're not expecting Fulham to lay a glove on the Sky Blues: Manchester City 4-1 Fulham.
