RB: Diogo Dalot/Jeremy Frimpong - As far as the right-back position goes, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is up for sale. Diogo Dalot has been one of the best players for United this season. And, Jeremy Frimpong could be an important addition if Wan-Bissaka leaves. So, both players might start in different matches.

CB: Jean-Clair Todibo/Jarrad Branthwaite - With Raphael Varane leaving, Manchester United will be looking for a new centre-back to replace him. Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire could leave too if United can get good offers for them. So, the two centre-backs that United could target are Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice and Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton.

CB: Lisandro Martinez - One of the main reasons for the defensive debacle of Manchester United this season has been the injury to Lisandro Martinez. The fearless Argentine was a key part of the success that Erik ten Hag enjoyed last season. So, Tuchel will surely rely on him for defensive stability.

LB: Luke Shaw - Many sources are reporting that Manchester United could look to sign a left-back this season. However, with Luke Shaw set to stay until 2027 and with Tyrell Malacia getting his fitness back, it looks like Shaw will be the starter and Malacia will be on the bench under Thomas Tuchel.
