Across all competitions, Manchester City are unbeaten in 45 games at the Etihad, dating back 672 days, and counting. The last team to beat them there? Brentford! They couldn't do it again, could they?

Manchester City vs Brentford Preview

Manchester City's winning streak continues and, ominously for the rest, is showing no sign of ending any time soon.

A fortnight ago, the Sky Blues swatted aside West Ham 3-1 at the London Stadium, with Erling Braut Håland netting a hat-trick in successive games, taking his tally to seven for the season already.

So, Pep Guardiola's team have now won 12 consecutive Premier League games, all by at least a two goal margin, a streak they'll be looking to extend, ahead of key clashes against Inter Milan and then Arsenal in the next week or so.

So what about Brentford? Will they be the latest cannon fodder to depart East Manchester battered and bruised, or are they capable of a monumental upset?

Well, Thomas Frank's team kick off sixth with six points on the board, having already claimed victories over Crystal Palace and Southampton in West London; Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa both on target in both victories.

On the road however, the Bees' start to the season could hardly be much tougher, defeated 2-0 at Anfield last month while, after this, their next two road trips take them to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and then Old Trafford.

Before that, they face the toughest fixtures in world football, and anything other than a routine Man City win would be a huge surprise.

Manchester City Team News

Rodri is yet to feature for Manchester City this season, given an extended break following the Euros, but after getting 60 minutes into his legs as Spain won in Geneva on Sunday night, will return here.

Meanwhile, Phil Foden hasn't been seen since the opening day, missing England's two games due to illness, so it's currently unknown if he'll be available for this one.

Lastly, at right-back, teenager Rico Lewis started only eight Premier League matches throughout the entitreity of last season, but could be in line for a fourth successive start, with Kyle Walker preserved ahead of Inter's mid-week visit.

Manchester City predicted lineup vs Brentford: (4-1-4-1): Ederson; Lewis, Akanji, Rúben Dias, Gvardiol; Rodri, Silva, De Bruyne, Doku, Grealish; Håland.

Manchester City Player to Watch vs Brentford

Having left with the match-ball following the hammerings of both Ipswich and West Ham, Erling Braut Håland could become the first player in Premier League history to bag a hat-trick in three successive matches; Ian Wright, Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane and Håland himself, now on two seperate occasions, are the only players to do so in back-to-back games.

Brentford Team News

Thomas Frank tends to switch to a back five whenever his side face top-tier opposition, although he didn't at Anfield three weeks ago, so it'll be interesting to see what system he selects here.

This could be partially dictated by the fact that Kristoffer Ajer is injured, although Mads Roerslev can slot it at right-back while, fitness permitting, Ben Mee could start, with new signing Sepp van den Berg, who debuted off the bench against Southampton, also an option.

Fábio Carvalho has been introduced as a substitute in all three league games since arriving from Liverpool, and is likely to do the same here.

Brentford predicted lineup vs Manchester City: (5-3-2): Flekken; Roerslev, Collins, Pinnock, Sepp van den Berg, Mee; Nørgaard, Jensen, Janelt; Mbuemo, Wissa.

Brentford Players to Watch vs Manchester City

Back in February, when Man City won 3-1 in West London, Mark Flekken made 12 saves, ten of which came in the first half, the most of any goalkeeper in a Premier League game since records began.

So far this season, the Dutchman has pulled-off more saves than any other Premier League goalkeeper (17), at least five more than anyone else, and will need to be at his best if his side harbour any hopes of leaving with a result.

Manchester City vs Brentford Prediction

As alluded to throughout, Manchester City are going to win this with ease aren't they? Erling Braut Håland will probably score at least twice, if not bag a record-breaking hat-trick, allowing the Sky Blues to rest players with Wednesday's clash against Inter in mind, while Brentford are simply seek to avoid a humiliating scoreline: Manchester City 3-0 Brentford.
