Man City player ratings: Attack

LW: Jeremy Doku (3.5/10) - Doku is a flop in this game as he was able to provide nothing for the forwards. His take-ons were unsuccessful and he looked lost on the turf of St. James' Park. He was pocketed by Kieran Tripper for the entire game.

  • SUB: Oscar Bobb (7/10) - Came onto the pitch in place of Doku in the 82nd minute of the game and was brilliant while finishing the winner for Manchester City. The 20-year-old Norwegian will be delighted to score the winner and he was better than Doku on the pitch for sure.

ST: Julian Alvarez (4.5/10) - If Jullian Alvarez wants to stop Erling Haaland from getting into the team when he gets fit, this is the type of performance he needs to avoid. He was struggling against Botman and Schar. Also, he missed a few chances. Therefore, he needs to step up if he wants to be a starter for City regularly.

RM: Phil Foden (6.5/10) - When Pill Foden is in the team, you can expect to see 100% effort from him. His raw pace was causing trouble. However, Newcastle did very well to contain him. He was lively in the game but failed to get things going for the Citizens.
