Man City player ratings vs Newcastle: Kevin De Bruyne is back!
This is what Champions are made of! What a comeback by Manchester City to beat Newcastle at St. James's Park 3-2. This game was a true testament to Premier League football. End-to-end action with City taking the lead with a world-class finish from Bernardo Silva in the 36th minute and after that Newcastle came back strongly as within a gap of two minutes, they took the lead due to fantastic finishes from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon. Pep had to go to his bench to inspire a comeback from the Citizens as he called on the maestro himself, Kevin De Bruyne. He scored one and made another for the substitute Oscar Bobb who scored a 91st-minute winner for the Champions. One of the best games of this Premier League so far. Man City player ratings vs Newcastle - Premier League
Man City player ratings: Defence
GK: Ederson (NA/10) - It is hard to say much about the performance of Ederson as he was subbed off in the 8th minute of the game. But, before that, he had a huge scare when he made a blunder as his clearance hit Almiron and nearly Newcastle scored the opener.
- SUB: Stefan Ortega (6/10) - Ortega was on goal when Newcastle scored those two world-class goals. There was no way he could have stopped those two goals from going in.
RB: Kyle Walker (3.5/10) - Walker is going through some personal issues. However, that is no excuse for the performance he put in. Yes, that assist was brilliant for Bernardo Silva's goal. But, after that, he cost City two goals due to his defensive errors.
CB: Ruben Dias (5.5/10) - Dias showed why he is the leader in the backline of Manchester City. He was shouting orders but clearly, no one was there to listen to him. However, he did carry on his team on his back. The Portuguese international did a good job however, his defensive partner let him down.
CB: Nathan Ake (4.5/10) - It is a performance that Nathan Ake would want to forget as soon as possible. He was struggling big time when he was up against the raw pace of Alexander Isak. He was uncomfortable in this game. It seems that Ake suits more as a left-back than playing as a centre-back.
LB: Josko Gvardiol (4.5/10) - Gvardiol used to play as a centre-back for RB Leipzig. At Manchester City, Pep uses him as a left-back. But, this game is a prime example of why Jokso Gvardiol is not a left-back. Pep should have interchanged his position with Nathan Ake.
