Ipswich Town vs Aston Villa: TV channel, prediction, team news & lineups
By Ben Gray
Aston Villa have won ten of their last 14 encounters with Ipswich, unbeaten in eight visits to Portman Road, while it is exactly 40 years to the day that Ipswich last beat them in Suffolk, with the Tractor Boys 3-0 winners on 29 September 1984; will this fixture produce a sense of déjà vu?
Ipswich Town vs Aston Villa Preview
Can Ipswich Town pick up their first Premier League win of the season?
Since starting with back-to-back defeats, admittedly against Liverpool and Man City, Kieran McKenna's men have stabilised with three consecutive draws.
Most recently, they snatches a point at Southampton, thanks to Sam Morsy's 95th minute strike. So, the Tractor Boys are currently above the relegation zone, but are in danger of not winning any of their opening six fixtures in the top flight for the first time since 1982.
Having achieved back-to-back promotions, this campaign was always likely to be an uphill battle for Ipswich who, if they are going to harbour any hopes of staying up, need to make Portman Road a fortress, so can they claim a noteworthy victory here?
Well, that'll be easier said than done, considering Aston Villa make the 151 mile journey east following three successive Premier League victories, or five wins on the spin if you expand out and consider all competitions.
In the league, Unai Emery's team fought back from a goal down to defeat Wolves 3-1 last weekend, scoring twice late on, a result that means they start the weekend third.
Then, on Tuesday night, a rather youthful version of the Claret and Blue Army ousted Wycombe Wanderers from the EFL Cup, with Emi Buendía heading home the opener, before Jhon Durán continued his red-hot form from the penalty spot at Adams Park.
Still to come this week, they'll welcome both Bayern Munich and then Manchester United to Villa Park, so ahead of those two huge fixtures, will Emery's team continue their winning streak in Suffolk?

Ipswich Town Team News
Kalvin Phillips who, frankly, can't catch a break, sat out last weekend's trip to Southampton due to a thigh injury, hence why Jens Cajuste came into midfield. Liam Delap, the only Ipswich player to score at Portman Road so far this season, will continue to lead the line.
Ipswich Town predicted lineup vs Aston Villa: (4-2-3-1): Muric; Tuanzebe, O'Shea, Greaves, Davis; Morsy, Cajuste, Burns, Hutchinson, Szmodics; Delap.
Ipswich Town Player to Watch vs Aston Villa
Sammie Szmodics was the top-scorer in the Championship last season with 27 goals, an impressive feat considering his Blackburn Rovers side finished 19th, just three points clear of relegation.
The Republic of Ireland international scored after just seven minutes at the Etihad last month and, if the Tractor Boys are going to survive, they'll need Szmodics to chip in with a fair few goals.
Aston Villa Team News
Unai Emery heavily rotated against Wycombe on Tuesday, Amadou Onana the only player to keep his place in the side, but will largely revert to the team that beat Wolves.
Diego Carlos suffered an injury during the warm-up at Adams Park, making him a doubt, meaning Lamare Bogarde could return in defence. Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara are both edging back towards full fitness, but neither will be involved here.
Aston Villa predicted lineup vs Ipswich Town: (4-2-2-2): Martínez; Bogarde, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Onana, Tielemans, McGinn, Ramsey; Rogers, Watkins.
Aston Villa Players to Watch vs Ipswich Town
Jhon Durán started for the first time this season in mid-week, converted a penalty late on in Buckinghamshire, meaning he's scored five goals already across all competitions, with all four of his league strikes coming as a substitute.
The Colombian is a bit of a throwback, revitalising the quintessential 'super-sub' phenomenon that feels like a relic of the past, so can Durán continue his scoring spree even if, once again, he begins the afternoon on the bench?
Ipswich Town vs Aston Villa Prediction
We're backing Aston Villa for victory in this one, expecting that they'll be simply too good for Ipswich. Kieran McKenna's team will give Unai Emery's side a run for their money, but we frankly believe it'll take a stronger side than the Tractor Boys to end Villa's winning run: Ipswich Town 1-2 Aston Villa.
