It is not the first time that Timo Werner has joined a Premier League club. The former Chelsea striker was very promising when he came to London in a blue shirt. However, he was unable to match the results he pulled off in Leipzig. Although he did win a Champions League medal with the Blues, he couldn't deliver what Chelsea expected of him. Thus, he was sent back to Leipzig where he was never the same Timo Werner. In 14 appearances for Leipzig this season, he scored just twice and assisted once. Thus, the German was left with no choice but to send Timo for loan and that is where Spurs swooped in as they were desperate for a striker. They signed Timo Werner till the end of the season. After confirming the signing, Timo Werner spoke to Spurs media in his very first interview.

Timo Werner wants to win trophies for Spurs

During his inaugural interview as a Spurs player, Timo Werner told fans that he watched Spurs after he left Chelsea and the Premier League. This what he had to say;

""One-and-a-half years ago I left England, I watched the Premier League, not too much to follow every single club but Tottenham was always a club which I watched.""

Timo Werner has an ambition and that is why he joined Spurs. He wants to end the trophy drought of the Spurs. He wanted to win trophies for Chelsea and now he wants the same with Spurs. Here is what he said in the interview;

""When I joined my old club, I said I wanted to be a winner and I wanted to win titles at the end, and in the end we won the Champions League so I think it shouldn’t be too bad to say that I’ve come here to also win titles and to win something.""
