England vs Finland - UEFA Nations League: TV channel, prediction, team news and lineups
By Ben Gray
Of all 31 national teams England have faced ten or more times, their best win % comes against Finland (81.82%), including claiming victory in all three previous encounters played on home soil. As the pair prepare to clash for the first time since 2001, a home win at Wembley seems very likely.
England vs Finland Preview
After cruising to victory in their Nations League opener on Saturday, will England continue their perfect start to this campaign? At the weekend, in a highly-anticipated clash with fierce rivals Republic of Ireland, the Three Lions rather silenced the home crowd in Dublin by claiming a comfortable 2-0 win. To further rub salt into Irish wounds, Declan Rice and Jack Grealish were the scorers, both of whom have previously donned the green of Ireland earlier in their careers. England, who were relegated two years ago, were always likely to be far too strong at League B level, but that was the perfect start for interim boss Lee Carsley, as he auditions to get the job on a more permanent basis.
Finland on the other hand were smashed 3-0 by Greece in Piraeus on Saturday night, with Lukáš Hrádecký gifting the hosts an early opener, commencing what would prove to be a humbling night for the visitors to Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium. The Eagle-owls have now won only nine of their last 28 internationals, including being smashed 4-1 by Wales in a Euro play-off earlier this year. Thus, Markku Kanerva's team seemingly set to be scrapping against Ireland as they battle to avoid relegation to League C. Thus, a routine home win is by far the most-likely outcome at Wembley.

England Team News
Morgan Gibbs-White and Angel Gomes came off the bench for their debuts at the weekend, with Tino Livramento and Noni Madueke hoping to follow suit here. Meanwhile, given that Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Cole Palmer are all sidelined, Jack Grealish is set to get another opportunity to shine in the number ten role. Eberechi Eze is amongst those hoping to see more minutes, while Trent Alexander-Arnold will get another chance to nail-down the starting right-back spot.
England predicted lineup vs Finland: (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Alexander-Arnold, Stones, Guéhi, Colwill; Rice, Mainoo, Grealish, Saka, Eze; Kane.
England Player to Watch vs Finland
Whatever the result, it'll be a special night for Harry Kane, as he becomes only the tenth Englishman to reach 100 caps. Of his record-breaking 66 international goals, 25 have come at Wembley, netting against 30 different opponents overall, seeking to add Finland to that list here.
Finland Team News
Markku Kanerva decided to leave all-time record goalscorer Teemu Pukki, who's now 34, on the bench at the weekend, so it'll be intersting to see if the former Norwich striker returns in place of Benjamin Källman this time. Goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký as well as Glen Kamara, formerly of Rangers and Leeds, are amongst the Eagle-owls' other familiar faces. Adam Ståhl only declared his international allegiance for Finland earlier this year but, after debuting in Greece, is likely to continue at right-back.
Finland predicted lineup vs England: (4-3-3): Hrádecký; Ståhl; Ivanov, Väisänen, Galvez; Peltola, Schüller, Kamara; Lod, Antman, Pukki.
Finland Player to Watch vs England
If Finland are going to cause England problems, Oliver Antman is their most-likely scorer. He, remarkably, has scored six times in just 13 caps to date, averaging a goal every 126 minutes for his nation, most-recently snatching a late equaliser at Hampden against Scotland in June.
England vs Finland Prediction
As alluded to earlier, we're forecasting a very emphatic England victory, The Three Lions have won 13 of their last 17 competitive fixtures at Wembley, with Spain just over six years ago the last side to beat them at the National Stadium in front of fans. On the flip side, Finland have lost six of their last ten competitive away games, with both trends very likely to continue: England 3-0 Finland.
