Chelsea are looking to add more firepower to their attack after the current options failed to fire last season. Reports claim that new manager Enzo Maresca wants to bring in two new forwards to bolster his frontline. And a bid for one of their targets has now been rejected.

Chelsea’s Omorodion Bid Rejected by Atletico Madrid

As per reports from The Athletic, Chelsea made a bid of €32.5million plus add-ons for Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion. But their offer was rejected by the Spanish club, who consider the player a key part of their future.

Omorodion joined Atletico from Granada in the summer of 2023 but was immediately sent on loan to Deportivo Alaves. He became the top scorer for Alaves in 2023/24 by scoring eight goals.

Chelsea are looking to bring in more competition for Nicolas Jackson, who had an impressive season in West London. The Senegalese forward had scored 14 goals and made five assists in the league. Apart from him and Cole Palmer, other attackers had failed to impress. Big-money signings like Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez couldn't improve the attacking output, which was one of the reasons for Chelsea's disastrous performance in the first half of last season. The Blues believe Omorodion is a player who can rectify this issue.

Omorodion has so much potential and wouldn't come cheap. Besides, Diego Simeone doesn't look very eager to let him go. Atletico's current strikers Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata are on the wrong side of 30. The La Liga club possibly see Omorodion as the future leader of their attack.

If Chelsea fail to convince Atletico to sell, they might move for Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran. Unai Emery's club might be forced to part with their player due to Profit and Sustainability Rules concerns.

The London club are looking to sell their current strikers Lukaku and Broja. Any incoming funds will possibly be diverted towards procuring new forwards.
