Chelsea have so far been one of the most active clubs in this summer transfer window. After adding Tosin Adarabioyo to their defence, Chelsea are now close to making Aaron Anselmino their next defensive signing.
Will Aaron Anselmino Join Chelsea Immediately?
According to The Athletic, Chelsea have almost wrapped up a deal for Boca Juniors centre-back Aaron Anselmino. The clubs are yet to reach a final agreement, but negotiations over personal terms are expected to move smoothly.
The 19-year-old defender will command a fee of £17 million, which includes add-ons. He is expected to sign a six-year deal.
But he won't be joining Chelsea this summer as the club plan to loan him out to the French side Strasbourg, who are a part of Todd Boehly's multi-club model. A stint at Strasbourg will help Anselmino to familiarize himself with the demands and standards of European football.
According to Spanish outlet Ole, Boca Juniors wanted Anselmino to stay in Argentina for one more year. But Chelsea have successfully convinced the club to let go of their prized possession. Apart from the Blues, AC Milan were also looking to sign the defender.
Anselmino started his youth career as a midfielder but was later moved into the heart of Boca Juniors' defence. Standing at over 6 feet he offers an aerial threat in addition to his excellent 1v1 skills. He also captained his club in all the categories that he played. In short, Chelsea are buying a player who can go on to become the complete package in the future.
Chelsea are also set to complete a transfer for Barcelona teenager Marc Guiu as they have planned a medical for him. Guiu and Anselmino will become the latest additions to the list of teenage sensations signed by the London club. The list features the likes of Kendry Páez, Estevao Willian, Angelo Gabriel, etc.
