Victory for Bournemouth would see them claim back-to-back victories over Southampton for the first time in 66 years; the Saints though are undefeated in six visits to Dorset, winning each of the last three, all without conceding, so which way will this one go?

Bournemouth vs Southampton Preview

Can Bournemouth get back to winning ways? Andoni Iraola's side come into this Monday night match-up following back-to-back defeats, beaten 1-0 by Chelsea and then 3-0 by Liverpool at Anfield last time out, despite mustering exactly 19 shots in both games, for a combined xG figure of 2.8.

Prior to this, the Cherries had been unbeaten, with their sole win of the campaign that remarkable comeback at Goodison, scoring thrice after the 87th minute to prevail 3-2, having been two down to Everton.

Now though, with a trip to Leicester to come on Saturday, consecutive fixtures against newly-promoted clubs should provide Bournemouth with the perfect opportunity to add more victories to their tally.

Southampton meanwhile are still searching for their first win of the campaign, currently in the relegation zone with just a solitary point to their name.

After starting the season with four straight defeats, Russell Martin's team were seemingly set to beat Ipswich last time out, Tyler Dibling opening the scoring after just five minutes, only for the Tractor Boys to pinch a point with the last kick of the afternoon.

Defeat here would see the Saints lost their first three away games at the start of a season for the first time since 2012, the last time they were newly-promoted, and with a trip to Arsenal next on the agenda, things aren't likely to get much easier any time soon.

Just over 27 miles seperate these two South Coast clubs, and there isn't likely to be much between them on the pitch either but, based on what both have produced so far, a Bournemouth victory appears the most-likely outcome.

Bournemouth Team News

Andoni Iraola, somewhat surprisingly, left key centre-back Marcos Senesi on the bench at Anfield, electing to go with summer signing Dean Huijsen alongside Ilya Zabarnyi, so it'll be interesting to see if that is the case again.

Marcus Tavernier was the match-winner the last time the Cherries took on the Saints, with he and Antoine Semenyo likely to be the main goal threats here.

Bournemouth predicted lineup vs Southampton: (4-2-3-1): Arrizabalaga; Araujo, Zabarnyi, Huijsen, Kerkez; Cook, Christie, Tavernier, Semenyo, Kluivert; Evanilson.

Bournemouth Player to Watch vs Southampton

It was always going to be tough for Evanilson to fill the void vacated by Dominic Solanke, after making a club-record £40 million move from FC Porto. The Brazilian is yet to get off the mark, seeing a penalty saved when Chelsea visited a fortnight ago, so can he break his duck here?

Southampton Team News

Jack Stephens remains suspended, following his red card against Manchester United, so Jan Bednarek and Taylor Harwood-Bellis will continue as the centre-back duo.

Teenager Tyler Dibling is the Saints' bright young prospect, scoring his first goal for the club a week ago, so will start a third successive Premier League match. Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale made 37 appearances for Bournemouth and has won both previous games against the Cherries, although he'll do well to keep that sequence going.

Southampton predicted lineup vs Bournemouth: (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale; Sugawara, Bednarek, Harwood-Bellis, Taylor; Downes, Lallana, Fernandes, Dibling, Fraser; Brereton Díaz.

Southampton Players to Watch vs Bournemouth

Ben Brereton Díaz is still yet to win a Premier League match, featuring in 19 without success, smashing the previous record held by Marvin Sordell of 17, so will it be 20th-time lucky for the Stoke-born Chile international?

Bournemouth vs Southampton Prediction

We're backing Bournemouth for victory in this one. The Cherries have been generally impressive, even in defeat this season, while Southampton are far too open at the back, so we cannot see the Saints containing the Cherries' attacking flair players: Bournemouth 2-0 Southampton.
