Arsenal are seeking to start a season with three successive wins, keeping a clean sheet in all of them, for the first time in exactly 100 years, but Mikel Arteta will be taking nothing for granted, considering Brighton also have maximum points, with the Seagulls victorious in three of their last five trips to North London.

Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion Preview

It may only be the second weekend of the season, but Arsenal's 2-0 victory at Aston Villa last weekend felt like a statement victory, not least because they lost twice to Villa last season, with second half strikes from Leandro Trossard and then Thomas Partey pinching the points, after man of the match David Raya had made a quite astonishing save. So, that's back-to-back 2-0 wins to start the season for Mikel Arteta's team, but this could well be the toughest test they've faced so far.

That's because Brighton also have six points on the board, above their hosts on goals scored at kick off, smashing Everton 3-0 at Goodison, before João Pedro's 96th minute header snatched victory over Manchester United, sparking wild celebrations in Sussex. Fabian Hürzeler's team then also demolished local rivals Crawley 4-0 in the EFL Cup in mid-week, so his start to life as Seagulls boss could hardly have gone any better, but can Brighton derail Arsenal's title aspirations?

Arsenal Team News

Leandro Trossard made a telling contribution off the bench at Villa Park, scoring his tenth goal in 20 Premier League appearancs this calendar year, so he'll surely come in for Gabriel Martinelli. Further back, both haha and Jurriën Timber have started at left-back so, after coming off the bench for his debut in Birmingham, could Riccardo Calafiori be in line to start this time? Lastly, after his signing was confirmed on Tuesday, Mikel Merino will be hoping to see his first minutes in an Arsenal shirt, although these are most-likely to come as a substitute.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Brighton & Hove Albion: (4-2-3-1): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Partey, Rice, Ødegaard, Saka, Trossard; Havertz.

Arsenal Player to Watch vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Kai Havertz will continue to lead the line; the German has found the net in each of his last three appearances against Brighton, scoring four in his last four outings at the Emirates.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Fabian Hürzeler made a full 11 changes for Crawley's Carabao Cup visit, but was still able to name a strong side, emphasising the strength in depth at his disposal. A mere nine minutes into Matt O'Riley's debut on Tuesday, he was on the receiving end of a horror tackle which forced him off, with the club subsequently confirming he's had surgery. After signing from Fenerbahçe this week, Ferdi Kadıoğlu could make his own debut here at left-back.

Brighton & Hove Albion predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (4-4-1-1): Steele; Veltman, Dunk, Van Hecke, Kadıoğlu; Milner, Baleba, Minteh, Mitoma, João Pedro; Welbeck.

Brighton & Hove Albion Players to Watch vs Arsenal

Danny Welbeck has been on fire at the start of this season, netting against both Everton and former Manchester United, while he's also netted on four occasions against his former employers Arsenal, including a penalty for Brighton during an EFL Cup tie two years ago.

Arsenal vs Brighton & Hove Albion United Prediction

Arsenal beat Brighton 2-0 and 3-0 last season but, despite the fact Mikel Arteta's team are clean sheet kings right now, we can't see them keeping another. Brighton, for their part, have been ultra-impressive under Fabian Hürzeler, so it certainly won't be easy, but we are tentatively backing the Gunners to prevail, even if they'll have to be at their best to do so.: Arsenal 2-1 Brighton & Hove Albion.
