Liverpool have lost both previous away trips to Paris Saint-Germain, beaten 3-0 in the Cup Winners' Cup in 1997 and 2-1 in the Champions League group phase six seasons ago.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Liverpool Preview
With the Premier League title more or less sewn up, attention turns to this competition for Liverpool, seeking to be crowned champions of England and Europe in the same season for the first time in 41 years. The Reds are favourites to go all the way, having finished top of the league phase, enjoying notable victories over AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid, winning all seven fixtures before their reserves were beaten by PSV in a dead-rubber on the road.
Meantime, last Wednesday's 2-0 win over Newcastle, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister the scorers, extended their Premier League unbeaten streak to 24 matches, leaving them a whopping 13 points clear, with only ten games still to play. Now though, this will be a serious test for Arne Slot's team, so can they claim a statement victory in the French capital?
As for Paris Saint-Germain, they're one of the most in-form teams in Europe, so will fancy their chances of knocking out the Premier League champions-elect. Les Rouge-et-Bleu's place in the knockout phase was in doubt at one stage, winning only one of their first five fixtures, before three successive victories, most-notably fighting back form 2-0 down to beat Man City 4-2, saw them climb up to 15th.
Les Parisiens were drawn against fellow-French side Stade Brestois in the first knockout round, and to say they won by a landslide would be an understatement. Following a 3-0 victory in Guingamp, PSG smashed Brest 7-0 in Paris, securing a 10-0 aggregate victory. Meantime, Luis Enrique's side are 11 points clear at the top of Ligue 1, aiming to become the first side in French top-flight history to go an entire campaign unbeaten. Saturday's hammering of Lille, in which they were 4-0 up by half time, made it five successive victories, and was the 13th time this season they've scored four or more. This though will be an exponentially tougher test, and with a second leg at Anfield to come next Tuesday, PSG will surely feel this first leg at Parc des Princes is must win.

Paris Saint-Germain Team News
Luis Enrique will deploy a fluid 4-3-3 formation without an orthodox centre-forward. Five players are vying for three spots, with January signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia likely to get the nod over Lee Kang-in and Désiré Doué, flanked by Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé.
Elsewhere, Warren Zaïre-Emery will return to midfield compared to the weekend side, while Nuno Mendes will get the nod over Lucas Hernández at left-back. Fabián Ruiz and Dembélé would miss the second leg at Anfield if cautioned.
Paris Saint-Germain predicted lineup vs Liverpool: (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; João Neves, Zaïre-Emery, Fabián; Dembélé, Barcola, Kvaratskhelia.
Paris Saint-Germain Player to Watch vs Liverpool
Ousmane Dembélé has 26 goals to his name this season, scoring 21 in 16 appearances since 15 December, so will the hot streak continue?
Liverpool Team News
Their early FA Cup elimination means Arne Slot's side have had a week without a game, so they should be well-rested. In recent weeks, Slot has deployed a strikerless, 4-4-2 formation, but Diogo Jota returned to lead the line against Newcastle, so will he, or perhaps Cody Gakpo, do so here?
That aside, the Reds' starting XI is very settled, with Dominik Szoboszlai's recent scoring spree certainly set to see him get the nod in midfielder, with Curtis Jones the most-likely man to miss out. Ibrahima Konaté, Andy Robertson, Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott are all one yellow card away from suspension.
Liverpool predicted lineup vs Paris Saint-Germain: (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konaté, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Luis Díaz, Gakpo.
Liverpool Player to Watch vs Paris Saint-Germain
Mohamed Salah has a ludicrous 30 goals and 22 assists to his name this season, while the Egyptian has scored against 25 different opponents in the Champions League, but never Paris Saint-Germain.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Liverpool Prediction
This clash should be high-scoring, but we're backing PSG to establish a narrow advantage to take with them to Merseyside next Tuesday: Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 Liverpool.
