Arsenal have won each of their last four Premier League meetings with Manchester United, seeking a fifth successive league victory over them for the first time ever; the Gunners are targeting back-to-back victories at Old Trafford, most-recently achieving this 46 years ago.
Manchester United vs Arsenal Preview
Both could be forgiven for being distracted by their ongoing European ties this week, but this is always a red letter day in the diary for both sets of supporters, as two of England's biggest clubs and fiercest rivals clash on Sunday.
Of the pair, Arsenal are 21 points better off in the Premier League, albeit it feels like their league season is over, kicking off 16 points adrift run-away leaders Liverpool; even with two games in hand, that gap is insurmountable. Recent 1-0 defeat to West Ham, followed by a drab goalless draw at Nottingham Forest have all but ended Mikel Arteta's hopes of delivering Premier League glory, underlining his team's lack of attacking firepower.
Well, that certainly wasn't the case in the Netherlands on Tuesday, as the Gunners crushed PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in the Champions League, claiming the biggest-ever victory in the tournament's knockout phase history. Six different scores, namely Jurriën Timber, Ethan Nwaneri, Mikel Merino, Martin Ødegaard, Leandro Trossard and then Riccardo Calafiori secured an historic victory. As alluded to earlier, Arsenal's title bid is over, but their next two Premier League games see them face two of their most-hated rivals, also taking on Chelsea next Sunday, and supporters will be demanding two victories.
On the flip side, Manchester United supporters will simply settle for a win over anyone right about now. Since being beaten 2-0 in North London in early-December, Rúben Amorim's team have collected just 14 points from 14 Premier League outings, hence why they continue to languish in 14th place, despite a rare victory last time out, beating Ipswich 3-2.
So, the Red Devils are surely prioritising cup competition, although that hasn't gone particularly well this week. First, Man United were dumped out of the FA Cup by Fulham on penalties, with both Victor Lindelöf and then Joshua Zirkzee denied by former Gunner Bernd Leno from the spot. Then, on Thursday, Man United held Real Sociedad to a credible 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Europa League last 16 tie, taking the lead through Zirkzee and Anoeta, before Bruno Fernandes gave away a penalty. The second leg of that tie, coming up next Thursday, is exponentially more important that this league fixture, but those inside Old Trafford will still love to claim a victory over Arsenal.

Manchester United Team News
Rúben Amorim has very few options at his disposal right now, with Altay Bayındır, Lisandro Martínez, Jonny Evans, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Amad sidelined, while both Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte are doubts, after neither traveled to San Sebastián. Meantime, Patrick Dorgu is suspended, having been sent off against Ipswich during their last league outing.
Elsewhere, Chido Obi-Martin, who left Arsenal for Man United last summer, is not in the UEFA squad, so could not feature in mid-week, but after an eye-catching cameo last Sunday, will see some more action this weekend too, albeit this is likely to come off the bench.
Manchester United predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (3-4-3): Onana; Lindelöf, de Ligt, Yoro; Mazraoui, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dalot; Zirkzee, Garnacho, Højlund.
Manchester United Player to Watch vs Arsenal
Bruno Fernandes has 11 goals to his name this season, while he's previously scored twice against Arsenal, one of which came in North London in the FA Cup earlier this year.
Arsenal Team News
Mikel Arteta has had two extra days to prepare for this clash and, partially due to limited options, is expected to name an unchanged lineup. There's still no Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz nor Gabriel Jesus, so Mikel Merino will once again be deployed as the emergency centre-forward.
Elsewhere, Myles Lewis-Skelly was rather lucky to avoid a red card at PSV on Tuesday, but is back from a domestic ban, so is expected to get the nod over Riccardo Calafiori at left-back. Lastly, Benjamin White is still being eased back to full fitness, coming off the bench during each of Arsenal's last three matches, most-recently starting in November due to knee surgery.
Arsenal predicted lineup vs Manchester United: (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Rice, Partey, Ødegaard; Nwaneri, Trossard, Merino.
Arsenal Player to Watch vs Manchester United
Martin Ødegaard has previously scored twice against Manchester United so, following a brace in Eindhoven in the week, could the captain be the match-winner here?
Manchester United vs Arsenal Prediction
We are backing Arsenal for victory at Old Trafford. As mentioned, the Gunners have had more preparation time and simply look sharper than their struggling hosts: Manchester United 0-2 Arsenal.
