Manchester United are heading into a crucial summer. With no European football next season, they need to raise funds through player sales. But things aren’t going according to plan.

The club had a clear plan, offload a high-earning forward to make room for new arrivals. His six-month loan spell was seen as a perfect audition.

One Premier League side had the option to buy him outright. That option is now off the table.

Man Utd transfer news: Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa deal officially over

Aston Villa had the chance to sign Marcus Rashford permanently. They had a £40 million buy clause in the deal. But as of Tuesday, that deal is officially over.

The player will return to Old Trafford. Villa made it clear they will not be signing him.

It’s not just him; Marco Asensio and Axel Disasi will also return to their parent clubs. Both were on loan.

And Villa are also letting Robin Olsen and Kortney Hause go as their contracts expire.

During his time at Villa Park, the attacker gave decent performances. In 17 games, he scored four goals and provided five assists. Still, Villa didn’t feel he was worth the fee.

That puts Manchester United in a tough spot. Marcus Rashford is no longer part of new manager Ruben Amorim’s plans.

He wants the forward sold. But now, one of the easier solutions is gone. The club must now find a new buyer and fast. Newcastle are one of the options.

They’ve shown interest and could come up with a fair offer. However, Rashford has another idea in mind.

According to reports, he prefers a move to Spain. Barcelona are his top choice. But there's a catch, they’re only willing to take him on loan.

That’s a big problem for United. A loan won’t bring in the funds they need. With time ticking, the club must act quickly.

The next few weeks could define Marcus Rashford’s future and Manchester United’s.
