Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League: TV channel, prediction, team news and lineups
By Ben Gray
Despite their propensity to beat Man City on their own turf, Tottenham have won only two of their last 15 visits to the Etihad, losing ten of them, although Spurs might just fancy their chances of adding to the Sky Blues' issues on Saturday evening.
Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview
We don't get to say this very often these days, but here goes... can Manchester City end their losing streak? Pep Guardiola's team come into this clash in uncharted territory, having suffered four defeats in a row, the first time the Sky Blues have endured such a run since April 2006 under Stuart Pearce.
First, the Citizens were dumped out the Carabao Cup by Spurs, while they've also been smashed 4-1 by Sporting in the Champions League, beaten by both Bournemouth and then Brighton in the Premier League by the South Coast too, conceding a pair of quick-fire late goals in Sussex a fortnight ago.
Having said all that, it's hardly time to panic just yet, given that the champions are second, five points below leaders Liverpool, who they will face at Anfield in next Sunday's blockbuster. Nevertheless, it's vitally important for Man City to get back to winning ways here.
Tottenham Hotspur meantime have won five and lost five in the Premier League so far, making it little surprise that they're languishing down in tenth place. Last time out, Ange Postecoglou's team suffered a, potentially, extremely damaging defeat, beaten 2-1 by newly-promoted Ipswich in front of their unanimously furious fans.
Thus, across their last six league games, Spurs have alternated between winning and losing, a trend supporters will hope continues for one more week anyway, but this lack of consistency is going to significantly hinder their Champions League aspirations. Pressure is gradually starting to mount on Postecoglou, so can he mastermind a massive victory at the Etihad that would silence the growing number of doubters?

Manchester City Team News
Rodri and Oscar Bobb are sidelined long-term, while Rúben Dias is a doubt, having not featured since the EFL Cup tie at Tottenham. Elsewhere, none of John Stones, Jack Grealish nor Phil Foden featured for England last week, but the trio, as well as Manuel Akanji and Jérémy Doku, are in contention here. Nathan Aké though isn't expected to make it, so could 19 year old Jahmai Simpson-Pusey start a third successive match at centre-back? Lastly, Kevin De Bruyne came off the bench against both Sporting and Brighton, his first minutes since 18 September, and his return offers a timely boost.
Manchester City predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-1-4-1): Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Gvardiol, Lewis; Kovačić, Savinho, Foden, Silva, Nunes; Håland.
Manchester City Players to Watch vs Tottenham Hotspur
Erling Braut Håland bagged a hat-trick against Kazakhstan at Ullevål on Sunday, having also been on target in Ljubljana three nights earlier, taking his tally to 38 goals in 39 caps for Norway. In a Man City shirt, his opener at Brighton was Håland's 15th of the campaign already, bagging a brace when the Citizens crucially won at Spurs in May, so can he repeat that trick?
Tottenham Hotspur Team News
It was confirmed earlier this week that Rodrigo Bentancur will serve a seven-game suspension for discriminator language; he can't play in the league until Boxing Day, but is eligible to feature in the Europa League. In his absence, Yves Bissouma will return at the base of midfield alongside Pape Matar Sarr, with Dejan Kuluševski, who's previously scored during all three visits to the Etihad, once again chosen over James Maddison further forward. At the back, Micky van de Ven is still sidelined due to a hamstring injury meaning Radu Drăgușin who was, at best, unconvincing against Ipswich will continue to deputise. Forwards Wilson Odobert and Richarlison also remain sidelined.
Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Manchester City: (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Drăgușin, Romero, Udogie; Matar Sarr, Bissouma, Johnson, Kuluševski, Son Heung-min; Solanke.
Tottenham Hotspur Players to Watch vs Manchester City
Son Heung-min took his tally to 51 international goals against Palestine on Tuesday, now just seven shy Cha Bum-kun's all-time record that has stood since 1978. Meantime, Son also has eight career goals against Man City to his name, only on target more frequently against five clubs, and they'll need him to be on top form, if Spurs are to spring a massive surprise on Saturday.
Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction
Despite a recent string of defeats, we are expecting Man City to prevail. Tottenham have not shown enough consistency to suggest they can slay the champions while, with key players returning to full fitness, the Sky Blues' slump is surely set to conclude: Manchester City 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur.
