Stefan Ortega - 6/10
Went the wrong way for Rashford's penalty. Denied the Englishman a chance for a second with good positioning to narrow the angle.
Matheus Nunes - 7.5/10
Picked up a yellow card for bringing down McGinn to delay a potential Villa attack. Won it late on with a good finish from a tight angle.
Ruben Dias - 6/10
Beaten by Rashford inside the first minute and was lucky to see him hit the post. Then conceded a penalty for a foul on Ramsey that saw Villa level it up.
Josko Gvardiol - 7/10
Did his defensive job well and helped keep out some Villa pressure, cutting out passes. Had a couple headers from corners kept out.
Nico O'Reilly - 7/10
Made a good run forward with the ball in the second half before being hauled down by Rogers. Played some dangerous crosses into the box and nearly assisted McAtee for a second.
Mateo Kovacic - 7/10
Often a key part of City's build-up play around the Villa box. Had two shots from outside the area kept out.
James McAtee - 7/10
Almost beat Martinez with an ambitious lob from the edge of the box but it went just the wrong side of the post. Replaced with just over 15 minutes to play.
Bernardo Silva - 7.5/10
Opened the scoring with a well-taken finish from the centre of the box. Shown a yellow card for complaining to the referee late on.
Ilkay Gundogan - 7/10
Battled well and won his duels as well as helping out in attack. Played a nice pass through for Marmoush to score late on but his teammate had strayed offside.
Omar Marmoush - 8/10
Made a good darting run into the Villa penalty area before squaring for Silva to net the opener. Had a couple more efforts kept out by Martinez and the visitors' defence.
Kevin De Bruyne - 8/10
Caused some problems with his tricky passing and set piece deliveries. Played a sublime trivela pass for McAtee to latch onto and shoot. Taken off in stoppage time.
