The latest Man Utd transfer news - Manchester United ready to bid for Nuno Mendes of PSG. The Red Devils are willing to pay £46m for the Portuguese left back.

Manchester United are ready to submit an offer for Paris Saint-Germain defender Nuno Mendes. The Portuguese international has a contract with PSG until the summer of 2026. However, reports suggest that Mendes is considering leaving the French club for a new challenge.

United manager Ruben Amorim has identified Mendes as his top choice for the left wing-back role. This position has been a weak spot for the Red Devils throughout the season. According to RMC Sport, negotiations between Mendes and PSG over a contract extension have stalled. Mendes is reportedly open to a move, but PSG remain determined to keep him.

Nuno Mendes has been in excellent form for PSG this season. He has scored two goals and provided two assists in 16 matches. This includes one goal and one assist in six Champions League games. Mendes joined PSG from Sporting in July 2022 and has made 99 appearances for the club. During this time, he has scored five goals and registered 13 assists.

Manchester United are not the only club interested in Mendes. Other teams are closely monitoring his situation. Mendes is valued at €55m (£46m) by Transfermarkt, but the exact amount United have offered is not clear.

The left-sided wing-back position has been a major issue for Manchester United this season. Tyrell Malacia has returned after being sidelined for 18 months due to a knee injury. However, the Dutchman has struggled to make an impact and was not included in the squad against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Luke Shaw is currently out with another muscular injury. Amorim reportedly sees Shaw as better suited for the left-sided centre-back role. Diogo Dalot has been unconvincing on the left, and Noussair Mazraoui performs better on the right.

United are also set to sign Diego Leon, a young left-back from Cerro Porteño, next summer. However, Leon is considered a long-term prospect rather than an immediate solution.
