Liverpool vs Manchester City- Premier League: TV channel, prediction, team news and lineups
By Ben Gray
Even at their unstoppable best, Manchester City found victories at Anfield hard to come by, their sole victory in front of supporters on this side of Stanley Park in 43 years and coming in 2003, with Liverpool, now more so than ever, fancying their chances of victory when the beleaguered champions visit Merseyside on Sunday.
Liverpool vs Manchester City Preview
For millions up and down the land, 1 December symbolises the countdown to Christmas in the form of opening the first door on an advent calendar. Well, for Liverpool, victory in this heavyweight clash could have them counting down to a record-equalling 20th title, with the Premier League trophy potentially hiding behind the final door in 25 games time.
Liverpool could hardly come into this one in better form, winning again on Wednesday night, this time beating Real Madrid 2-0 at Anfield, with Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo the second half scorers; Kylian Mbappé and Mohamed Salah, flabbergastingly, both missing penalties in quick succession in-between. This maintains the Reds' perfect record in the Champions League, on course to top the table, with fixtures against Girona, Lille and PSV remaining.
Across all competitions, Arne Slot's side have won 17 of 19 matches since his arrival, battling to a 3-2 victory at Southampton last Sunday, with Salah's late brace by the South Coast maintaining their near-flawless Premier League record. This is now the start of a possibly season-defining week, with the Reds visiting Newcastle on Wednesday, before a Merseyside derby at Goodison next Saturday against, an admittedly, goal-shy Everton. Victory here would propel Liverpool 11 points clear of the champions, surely presenting Slot's side with one hand on the trophy, so will the unstoppable red machine roll on?
As for Manchester City, they ended their losing streak on Tuesday, but that doesn't begin to tell a minuscule amount of the story. The Sky Blues were 3-0 up and cruising at home to Feyenoord, Erling Braut Håland bagging a brace and İlkay Gündoğan seeing a deflected shot nestle in the corner, seemingly set for a morale-boosting success. On the contrary, Pep Guardiola's team then completely collapsed, conceding thrice in the final 15 minutes, each more shambolic than the last, as Feyenoord rescued a draw at the Etihad.
Before this, the Citizens had suffered five consecutive defeats for the first time in over 18 years, ignominiously smashed 4-0 by Tottenham last Saturday, their heaviest home defeat since 2003 when they were still at Maine Road. Man City have therefore now conceded multiple goals in six successive fixtures for the first time since May 1963, while Tuesday was the first time they'd thrown away a three-goal advantage for 35 years. If they aren't already, defeat here would surely catapult the Citizens into crisis and, based on how they're playing right now, you simply cannot see them leaving Anfield with anything other than a comprehensive beating.

Liverpool Team News
Caoimhín Kelleher, fresh from saving an Mbappé penalty, will continue to prove an able deputy for Alisson in goal, while Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are also sidelined. Defenders Ibrahima Konaté and Conor Bradley are both doubts, having suffered injuries against Real Madrid, which could cause a major issue, considering Trent Alexander-Arnold is also not fully fit, albeit he was back on the bench in mid-week. If none of the trio can go, which is the worst case scenario, Joe Gomez will come in at right-back with Jarell Quansah partnering Virgil van Dijk. Curtis Jones is likely to get the nod in midfield, chosen over Dominik Szoboszlai, while, despite his goal on Wednesday, Cody Gakpo could once again start the afternoon amongst the substitutes. Konaté, who may not be able to feature as mentioned, and Alexis Mac Allister are both one caution away from suspension.

Manchester City Team News
Pep Guardiola currently cannot call upon the services of John Stones, Rodri, Mateo Kovačić, Oscar Bobb nor Jérémy Doku, although Rúben Dias was back amongst the substitutes on Tuesday, so could feature for the first time since 30 October following a calf issue. Matheus Nunes came into midfield against Feyenoord, alongside İlkay Gündoğan, while Kevin De Bruyne has been a perpetual substitute of late, so could he start for the first time since mid-September following a hamstring issue?

Manchester City Players to Watch vs Liverpool
Erling Braut Håland did bag a brace in mid-week, but has scored just two goals in his last seven Premier League outings, while his only goal at Anfield, to date, came bedecked in the colours of RB Salzburg back in 2019, so can he score a big goal in a pivotal fixture here?
Liverpool vs Manchester City Prediction
For the first time since 1 November 2017, Manchester City go into a game not as favourites and, based on what both teams are producing right now, it's easy to understand why. Thus; we're backing Liverpool to claim a statement victory that'll thrust them 11 points clear of the champions: Liverpool 3-1 Manchester City.
