West Ham's most-recent visit to the King Power in May 2023 saw Leicester relegated on the final day, with the Foxes desperately battling to avoid the drop come what next May.

Leicester City vs West Ham United Preview

Will the Ruud van Nistelrooy-era in the East Midlands get off to a winning start? At the weekend, led by caretaker boss Ben Dawson, Leicester City were smashed 4-1 by Brentford, despite actually taking the lead through Facundo Buonanotte in West London. Thus, if van Nistelrooy, still a relative rookie, wasn't already aware, he witnessed first hand that he has a massive job on his hands, sat beside a concerned looking Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha. The Foxes are now winless in five, losing four of them, form that ultimately saw Steve Cooper sacked, but this is certainly a winnable fixture, as Leicester seek to climb away from the relegation zone.

On the flip side, in this tale of two managers, Julen Lopetegui remains a man under enormous pressure. At the weekend, West Ham were ignominiously 4-0 at home to Arsenal inside 36 minutes, leading to many unhappy Hammers heading for the exits early. Quick-fire goals from full-backs Aaron Wan-Bissaka and then Emerson, the latter a stupendous free-kick, reigniting the atmosphere but not for long, with Arsenal scoring again straight away as it ended 5-2 at the London Stadium. Five days earlier, the Irons had enjoyed their most momentous victory of the season, defeating Newcastle 2-0 on Tyneside, with Tomáš Souček and then Wan-Bissaka the scorers.

Nevertheless, West Ham still have not won back-to-back games all season, languishing in 14th, equidistant away from the relegation zone and the European places, dreaming of one and fearing the other. Thus, with Wolves set to visit East London next Monday, failure to pick up maximum points from games against two of the few teams below them could be curtains for Lopetegui. Leicester have not won back-to-back home league games against West Ham since 1989, but the Foxes will fancy their chances of changing that fact on Tuesday night.

Leicester City Team News

Key players Ricardo Pereira and Abdul Fatawu have both suffered long-term injuries, while Caleb Okoli hobbled off at the weekend, replaced by Jannik Vestergaard. Caretaker boss Ben Dawson switched to a back five at Brentford, bringing Conor Coady into the back-line, but we're not expecting Ruud van Nistelrooy to follow suit. Boubakary Soumaré started at the base of midfield on Saturday, with Harry Winks sidelined, while fit-again Bobby De Cordova-Reid or Stephy Mavididi could bolster the forward options. Wilfred Ndidi is one yellow card away from a ban.

Leicester City predicted lineup vs West Ham United: (4-5-1): Hermansen; Justin, Vestergaard, Faes, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Soumaré, De Cordova-Reid, Buonanotte, Mavididi; Vardy.

Leicester City Player to Watch vs West Ham United

Jamie Vardy has only ever scored three goals in 15 meetings with West Ham, the most-recent of which was scored in 2019, so can he end this six game barren streak?

West Ham United Team News

Julen Lopetegui named the same starting XI against both Newcastle and Arsenal; safe to say the team played better in the first of those two games. Mohammed Kudus five-game suspension is now over, meaning he can feature for the first time since 19 October, a whopping 45 days ago. Łukasz Fabiański has usurped Alphonse Areola as first-choice goalkeeper but, following a mixed performance at the weekend, will the 39 year old keep his place? Either Guido Rodríguez or Edson Álvarez are likely to come in to bolster midfield solidity. Emerson, Tomáš Souček and Lucas Paquetá would all sit out Monday's clash with Wolves if cautioned.

West Ham United predicted lineup vs Leicester City: (4-2-3-1): Fabiański; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson; Álvarez, Souček, Bowen, Paquetá, Kudus; Antonio.

West Ham United Player to Watch vs Leicester City

Mohammed Kudus is, probably, the Hammers most-talented player, but after over six weeks on the sidelined, what will the Ghanian be able to produce?

Leicester City vs West Ham United Prediction

We're forecasting a draw that'll satify neither team. Ruud van Nistelrooy will be hoping to enjoy a new manager bounce, which is a distinct possibility given how poorly West Ham are playing, but we're sitting on the fence and predicting a draw: Leicester City 1-1 West Ham United.
