West Ham are seeking to complete a first league-doubler over Ipswich since 2001/02, with the Hammers losing only two of their last ten visits to Suffolk.

Suffice to say, this season has not panned out how either of these two sides would have hoped, but can either conclude the campaign with victory?

Having achieved back-to-back promotions, it was always going to be an uphill challenge for Ipswich Town to survive, but they would surely have believed themselves to be capable of collecting more than just four victories, winning only once in front of their own supporters.

Ipswich Town vs West Ham United preview

Last Sunday, as two already relegated clubs went head-to-head in the East Midlands, the Tractor Boys were beaten 2-0 by Leicester at the King Power. This leaves Kieran McKenna's team rooted on 22 points, which will be Ipswich's lowest-ever points tally in any season; the previous low was 27, set in 1994/95.

The Blues' sole victory at Portman Road this season came against Chelsea just after Christmas, so can they belatedly give their supporters something to celebrate on the final day?

As for West Ham United, they're thankful that the three promoted clubs have been so very porous, given that they come into the final day on only 40 points. Last Sunday, the Irons were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest at the London Stadium, with Jarrod Bowen's spectacular late strike merely a consolation.

This was the Irons' ninth home defeat of the season, enjoying just five victories in front of their own fans, their lowest tally since being relegated in 2010/11.

In total, since taking over in January, Graham Potter has won only four of his 17 matches in charge, albeit one of these victories did come a fortnight ago, as goals from Tomáš Souček and Bowen secured a first victory at Old Trafford since 2008. The Hammers' biggest win of the campaign came against Ipswich in October, a 4-1 victory that day, and they're favourites to win this trip to Suffolk too.

Ipswich Town team news

Kieran McKenna remains without Arijanet Muriç, Conor Townsend, Cameron Burgess, Kalvin Phillips, Wes Burns, Chiedozie Ogbene, Jaden Philogene and Sammie Szmodics due to injury.

In terms of who might feature, this'll surely be farewell for Liam Delap, although he may have to do so from the bench, given that George Hirst has started three of the last six matches, including last weekend. Elsewhere, it'll be interesting to see of loanees Jens Cajuste and Julio Enciso keep their places, of if McKenna will start to plan for next season by bringing in Jack Taylor and Conor Chaplin.

Ipswich Town predicted lineup vs West Ham United: (4-5-1): Palmer; Tuanzebe, O'Shea, Greaves, Davos; Cajuste, Morsy, Hutchinson, Clarke, Enciso; Hirst.

Ipswich Town player to watch vs West Ham United

Omari Hutchinson was tipped to star when Ipswich were promoted a year ago, but he has scored just three goals this season, so can he add to his tally on the final day?

West Ham United team news

Graham Potter travels to Suffolk without Crysencio Summerville and Michail Antonio due to long-term injuries, but is expected to restore Niclas Füllkrug to the lineup, the German leading the line.

In defence, Vladimír Coufal and Aaron Cresswell both started against Nottingham Forest, despite the fact they're leaving after this match, so could Konstantinos Mavropanos or Emerson come into the team this time? Potter has come under some criticism for deploying a rather defensive back five system, so will he take the shackles off, given how much their opposition have struggled?

West Ham United predicted lineup vs Ipswich Town: (5-2-2-1): Areola; Coufal, Kilman, Todibo, Cresswell, Wan-Bissaka; Ward-Prowse, Souček; Kudus, Bowen, Füllkrug.

West Ham United player to watch vs Ipswich Town

Jarrod Bowen, as always, will be West Ham's primary goal threat, having taken his tally to 13 for the season against Nottingham Forest, one of which came when Ipswich visited the London Stadium.

Ipswich Town vs West Ham United prediction

This match is unlikely to be a thriller, but we are backing West Ham for a narrow victory in Suffolk, likely to have simply too much quality for their hosts: Ipswich Town 1-2 West Ham United.
