AFC Bournemouth 1-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers (Bournemouth win 5-4 on penalties)

In the first all-Premier League tie of the round, Bournemouth advanced to the next stage after defeating Wolves in a penalty shootout. The first half was filled with VAR drama, but it was Evanilson who gave the home side the lead. In the second half, Matheus Cunha equalized with a brilliant strike from outside the box.

Despite several chances, neither team could find a second goal, even through extra time. Wolves seemed content to take the match to penalties, but towards the end of extra time, Cunha was shown a straight red card for striking Milos Kerkez before headbutting him.

In the penalty shootout, the first seven kicks were converted before Dean Huijsen missed for Bournemouth. However, Wolves' Matt Doherty then missed his kick as well. Lewis Cook scored his penalty, and after Boubacar Traoré missed his attempt, Luis Sinisterra converted to send Bournemouth into the quarter-finals.

Manchester City 3-1 Plymouth Argyle

The final match on Saturday saw Premier League champions Manchester City host Championship side Plymouth Argyle. Fresh off their shock 1-0 win over current Premier League leaders Liverpool, Plymouth stunned the Etihad by taking the lead in the 38th minute through Maksym Talovierov. Despite dominating throughout, City needed 14 shots before finally equalizing just before halftime, with Nico O’Reilly finishing off a Kevin De Bruyne assist.

Plymouth battled hard against their Premier League opposition, but O’Reilly struck again in the 76th minute, heading in from a Phil Foden corner. The game was sealed in the 90th minute when De Bruyne finished off a pass from Erling Haaland, confirming City’s place in the quarter-finals.
