Arsenal are currently unbeaten in five visits to Stamford Bridge, despite losing eight of the previous ten in the Premier League, but the Gunners do not make the 7.4 mile journey across the capital in great form at all.
Chelsea vs Arsenal Preview
Can Arsenal end their miserable run of form? On Wednesday night, the Gunners' unbeaten start to this Champions League campaign came to an end, beaten 1-0 by Internazionale at San Siro, with the only goal of the night coming in first half stoppage time from the penalty spot, following very dubious handball. This though means Mikel Arteta's team have lost three successive Premier League or Champions League away games, all without scoring, following defeats at both Bournemouth and then, last weekend, Newcastle.
The Gunners last endured three consecutive Premier League away defeats in December 2021, most-recently doing so while scoring nil in all three back in April 2014, a sequence that featured that traumatising 6-0 hammering at Chelsea. All of this leaves Arteta's team five points below Manchester City and seven adrift leaders Liverpool, meaning another defeat here could leave the title dreams in tatters, even at this early stage.
Chelsea meantime kick off above their rivals, albeit only on goal difference, something few could've foreseen considering they've finished 40 and 26 points below the last two seasons. Enzo Maresca's side though have won only one of their last four in the league, held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United a week ago, with Moisés Caicedo's stunning second half strike pinching a point. The Blues' only two defeats in the league have come against Liverpool and Man City, so they are still searching for that first statement victory, could it come here?
On Thursday, Chelsea did make a statement of sorts, smashing FC Noah 8-0 in the Conference League, maintaining their perfect record in UEFA's third-tier tournament; Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Axel Disasi and Mykhailo Mudryk all scoring, while João Félix and then Christopher Nkunku both bagged braces. While they're unlikely to score eight again, will Stamford Bridge witness another home win, one they'd likely enjoy even more?

Chelsea Team News
Enzo Maresca continues to make the full 11 changes for mid-week cup competitions, so will more or less entirely revert to last weekend's XI at Old Trafford. In the build-up to this game, the team news has been dominated by Cole Palmer's availability, after Maresca claimed he was a doubt earlier this week, before stating on Friday he's in contention to feature. Make of that what you will. Elsewhere, Jadon Sancho is carrying a knock, Reece James will continue to be deployed at left-back and Roméo Lavia will keep his place at the base of midfield, chosen over out-of-favour Enzo Fernández. Striker Nicolas Jackson would be suspended for the trip to Leicester in a fortnight if booked.
Chelsea predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (4-2-3-1): Sánchez; Gusto, Fofana, Colwill, James; Caicedo, Lavia, Madueke, Palmer, Neto; Jackson.
Chelsea Players to Watch vs Arsenal
Moisés Caicedo, who Arsenal publicly tried to sign in January 2023, was man of the match at Old Trafford last Sunday, continuing to grow in both stature and importance.
Arsenal Team News
Arsenal venture West across London without Riccardo Calafiori, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney but captain Martin Ødegaard is back, coming on for a very brief cameo on Wednesday, his first minutes since suffering an ankle injury on 9 September. Meanwhile, Declan Rice did not travel to Milan due to a broken toe, but there is optimism that he'll be able to feature. Kai Havertz was taken off in stoppage time at San Siro due to a head injury, so his availability status is unknown, while Raheem Sterling is ineligable to face his parent club.
Arsenal predicted lineup vs Chelsea: (4-4-2): Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Rice, Partey, Saka, Martinelli; Trossard, Havertz.
Arsenal Player to Watch vs Chelsea
Kai Havertz is Arsenal's top-scorer this season with seven goals and, having bagged a brace against Chelsea in April, he's likely to be their primary goal-threat once again.
Chelsea vs Arsenal Prediction
We're forecasting yet another miserable afternoon for Arsenal. Chelsea have been impressive of late, while the Gunners are really struggling to score goal, hence why we're backing the Blues to prevail and keep a clean sheet: Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal.
