Brighton have won five of their last seven against Bournemouth, including a 2-1 victory in Dorset in November, with the Seagulls seeking a fourth successive home win over the Cherries.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Bournemouth Preview

These two South Coast sides are certainly punching above their weight in the Premier League, with this a key clash in the race for European qualification. Of the two, it's Bournemouth who are four places and three points better off, despite the fact they were on the wrong end of a shock defeat at the weekend. On Saturday, the Cherries were beaten 1-0 by struggling Wolves at Dean Court, with the afternoon's only goal coming a mere five minutes after Illya Zabarnyi had been sent off.

So, having been unbeaten in 11 Premier League matches, winning seven of them, Andoni Iraola's side have now lost two of their last three, also beaten by Liverpool, whilst swatting aside rock-bottom Southampton in-between. Bournemouth do remain fifth, thereby occupying the final Champions League spot, but need a win in Sussex to avoid slipping out of the European places altogether.

Brighton & Hove Albion meantime demolished Southampton 4-0 at the weekend; João Pedro, Georginio Rutter, Kaoru Mitoma and Jack Hinshelwood all on target during a very comfortable victory at St Mary's. That made it back-to-back victories for Fabian Hürzeler's team, also steamrollering Chelsea on Valentine's night, having suffered successive loses beforehand.

So, the Seagulls are down in ninth, but are only three points below their hosts, so a victory here would very much catapult the Albion back into European contention. The last 11 matches between these two sides have produced 34 goals, over three goals a game, so expect another entertaining affair.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Jason Steele, Ferdi Kadıoğlu, Lewis Dunk, Igor and James Milner remain sidelined, while neither Joël Veltman nor Danny Welbeck featured at the weekend, but Fabian Hürzeler appears optimistic that the duo should be able to return soon.

In Veltman's absence, Jack Hinshelwood deputised at right-back at Southampton, but fit again Pervis Estupiñán, who came off the bench on Saturday, could return on the left, allowing Tariq Lamptey to return on the opposite side.

Brighton & Hove Albion predicted lineup vs Bournemouth: (4-4-1-1): Verbruggen; Lamptey, Webster, van Hecke, Estupiñán; Baleba, Ayari, Minteh, Mitoma, Georginio; João Pedro.

Brighton & Hove Albion Players to Watch vs Bournemouth

Georginio Rutter bagged his eighth of the season on Saturday, six of which have come since 11 January, so will his recent scoring spree continue?

Bournemouth Team News

Ilya Zabarnyi's red card against Wolves means he is suspended, while Marcos Senesi, Julián Araujo, Adam Smith and Enes Ünal remain sidelined long-term. Fit again James Hill return at right-back on Saturday, but he could be required in the middle this time, with Lewis Cook thereby occupying the full-back position, and Tyler Adams returning to midfield.

Elsewhere, Alex Scott has come off the bench during the last two games, his first appearances since 19 October following a meniscus tear injury, a major boost for Andoni Iraola considering his limited options. In further good news, Evanilson was an unused substitute on Saturday, but could we see the Brazilian forward for the first time since suffering a broken foot in early-January? Lastly, Ryan Christie is a caution away from a two-match suspension.

Bournemouth predicted lineup vs Brighton & Hove Albion: (4-2-3-1): Arrizabalaga; Cook, Hill, Huijsen, Kerkez; Adams, Christie, Tavernier, Kluivert, Semenyo; Ouattara.

Bournemouth Player to Watch vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Dango Ouattara has nine goals to his name this season, including four in his last four Premier League appearances, likely to be the Cherries' main goal threat again.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Bournemouth Prediction

As alluded to earlier, this clash should guarantee goals, but we are backing Brighton to prevail, with the Seagulls just making home advantage count: Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 Bournemouth.
