Arsenal have won back-to-back visits to Brighton, despite only claiming victory during one of their first five Premier League visits to the Amex, with the last seven meetings between the pair producing 23 goals.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Arsenal Preview

After commencing the new year with a victory, Arsenal need that to be the start of many victories if they're to catch run-away league-leaders Liverpool. On New Year's Day, the Gunners fought back from a goal down to defeat Brentford 3-1 in West London, with Gabriel Jesus nodding home the equaliser, before quick-fire goals shortly after half time from Mikel Merino and then Gabriel Martinelli secured the points. This extends Arsenal's unbeaten streak in the Premier League to nine, 12 across all competitions, although they remain six points adrift the leaders, with recent draws against Fulham and Everton very much derailing their title aspirations. Next up are games against Newcastle, Man United, Spurs and Aston Villa, all to come in the next fortnight, meaning huge matches are coming thick and fast for Mikel Arteta's team, but will they leave Sussex with three precious points?

Brighton & Hove Albion meantime concluded the last calendar year by failing to win any of their last seven matches, so can they kick off the near year with a win? On Monday night, the Seagulls held Aston Villa to a credible 2-2 draw in the Midlands, taking the lead through Simon Adingra, before needing a late equaliser from Tariq Lamptey, the most unlikely of scorers, to salvage a share of the spoils. That's three successive draws for Fabian Hürzeler's side, who've actually drawn five of seven outings since their most-recent victory, coming at Bournemouth on 23 November. This has seen Brighton sink from fourth down to tenth, but a victory over Arsenal on Saturday evening would certainly spark their campaign into life.

Brighton & Hove Albion Team News

Defenders Ferdi Kadıoğlu, Adam Webster and Pervis Estupiñán are all sidelined, but Joël Veltman was back on the bench on Monday, so he could return, with Lamptey switching over the left-back, after Igor was forced to fill-in there. Elsewhere, Jack Hinshelwood, Mats Wieffer, James Milner and Danny Welbeck are also sidelined, while Diego Gómez isn't yet ready to make his debut, having only just arrived from Inter Miami. Fabian Hürzeler made a triple substitution on the hour mark against Aston Villa, introducing Georginio Rutter, Yankuba Minteh and Kaoru Mitoma, so how many of that trio will start this time?

Brighton & Hove Albion predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Veltman, Dunk, van Hecke, Lamptey; Baleba, Ayari, Minteh, Rutter, Mitoma; João Pedro.

Brighton & Hove Albion Players to Watch vs Arsenal

João Pedro bagged the equaliser when these two drew 1-1 in North London in August, one of four goals the Brazilian has to his name this season, so can he add to his tally?

Arsenal Team News

Jurriën Timber collected his fifth caution of the campaign on Wednesday, meaning he's suspended, which is a major blow considering both Benjamin White and Takehiro Tomiyasu are sidelined long-term, meaning Thomas Partey is likely to deputise at right-back. Elsewhere, Ethan Nwaneri was handed a first-ever Premier League start against Brentford, attempting to fill the enormous void vacated by the injured Bukayo Saka, while Kai Havertz missed the mid-week fixture due to illness. If the German is able to return, he's likely to lead the line, while Gabriel Jesus could be shunted wide-right. Lastly, Myles Lewis-Skelly had started four successive Champions or Premier League games at left-back, before fit again Riccardo Calafiori got the nod on New Year's Day, with the Italian likely to keep his place, despite the fact the teenager had done little to deserve losing his spot.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Brighton & Hove Albion: (4-3-3): Raya; Partey, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Merino, Ødegaard; Jesus, Martinelli, Havertz.

Arsenal Player to Watch vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Gabriel Martinelli has been on target during recent road wins at Crystal Palace and Brentford, seeking to score in three successive Premier League away games for the first time since Easter 2023.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Arsenal Prediction

We are backing Arsenal for another hard-fought away victory, similar to their victory at Brentford three nights earlier, with Brighton not as strong as they were a few months ago: Brighton & Hove Albion 1-2 Arsenal.
