Arsenal have won each of their last five meetings with Bournemouth, scoring 15 goals in the process, so will that trend continue?

Bournemouth vs Arsenal Preview

Can Arsenal, even if only for 20 hours or so, go top of the Premier League table? So far, Mikel Arteta's team are unbeaten across all competitions, most-recently enjoying back-to-back home league wins over Leicester and then Southampton, with Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka all on target as they fought back from a goal down to defeat the Saints. After this, the Gunners' next three league fixtures will see them take on Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea, with the small matter of a Champions League trip to the San Siro thrown in for good measure, meaning Arteta will be determined for his side to start this crucial period with a victory by the South Coast.

Bournemouth though cannot be overlooked and dismissed as mere cannon fodder. During their most-recent home game, Andoni Iraola's team swatted Southampton aside, with Evanilson, Dango Ouattara and Antoine Semenyo all scoring during a rampant first half. Although, on the flip side, the Cherries did actually lose their other three fixtures in-between the September and October international breaks, beaten by Chelsea, Liverpool and Leicester, all without scoring, disappointingly departing the King Power Stadium empty handed a fortnight ago. Bournemouth have only ever won one of 16 previous enconters with Arsenal and it would be a major shock if they added to that here.

Bournemouth Team News

Tyler Adams, who's sidelined long-term following back surgery, is Bournemouth's only absentee, meaning Andoni Iraola could name an unchanged line-up, although he's not set to do so. Somewhat surprisingly, Dango Ouattara was left on the bench against Leicester but, given that he replaced Justin Kluivert at half time, the Burkina Faso international, who bagged a brace against Burundi last Thursday, is likely to return to the XI. Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has conceded 12 goals during his seven previous appearances against Arsenal, yet to keep a clean sheet.

Bournemouth predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (4-2-3-1): Arrizabalaga; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Cook, Christie, Tavernier, Semenyo, Ouattara; Evanilson.

Bournemouth Players to Watch vs Arsenal

Evanilson was part of the Porto team that took Arsenal to penalties in the Champions League back in March; having got off the mark for Bournemouth during their last home game, can the Brazilian find the net again?

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal continue to be without captain Martin Ødegaard, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney, while there are reports that Takehiro Tomiyasu is injured again too, having only just made his first appearance this season off the bench against Southampton. Elsewhere, Bukayo Saka hobbled off during England's defeat to Greece last Thursday, thereby not traveling to Helsinki over the weekend, but there is optimism that this injury was only minor.

None of Jurriën Timber, Thomas Partey nor Kai Havertz went away on international duty, while Benjamin White hasn't featured since the Man City game, so there are question marks around the fitness of all four of those key figures. On top of all this, Gabriel Martinelli reportedly picked up an injury during Brazil's victory in Chile, making him a potential doubt too. In short, who knows who Mikel Arteta is going to have to choose from ahead of this trip to the South Coast?

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Bournemouth: (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Partey, Rice, Merino; Saka, Trossard, Havertz.

Arsenal Player to Watch vs Bournemouth

Kai Havertz's first goal for Arsenal came in Dorset last September; he's now scored 20 times for the Gunners, including six so far this season already.

Bournemouth vs Arsenal Prediction

Did you know: three of the Gunners' last four away Premier League defeats have come in fixtures kicking off at 5:30 (local time) on a Saturday. Given Arsenal's potential injury crisis, it's hard to make a prediction until the team sheets are available but, even if they are depleted, we are backing Arteta's team to leave Bournemouth with all three points: Bournemouth 1-3 Arsenal.
