Aston Villa vs Bournemouth - Premier League: TV channel, prediction, team news and lineups
By Ben Gray
Aston Villa have won their last two home games against Bournemouth, despite the fact the Cherries had claimed back-to-back victories at Villa Park immediately beforehand, so which way will this one go?
Aston Villa vs Bournemouth Preview
Who's ultra-impressive start to the season will continue? Aston Villa kick off in fourth place, accumulating 17 points from eight fixtures so far, which represents their best start to a Premier League season since 1998. Last weekend, the Villans fought back from a goal down to beat Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage, with Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins on the scoresheet.
Then, even more impressively, Unai Emery's team moved top of the Champions League table this week, making it three wins out of three in that competition, still yet to concede a goal. On Tuesday, the Claret and Blue Army had a 2-0 home victory over Bologna to celebrate, with John McGinn's free-kick, that curled home having evaded everybody, breaking the deadlock, before Jhon Durán scored his customary goal, having been handed a rare start. Put succinctly, Villa are flying right now, so will they claim another win here?
Well, that won't be easy, because Bournemouth make the 137 mile journey north up the M40 full of confidence. That's because, last Saturday evening, Andoni Iraola's side defeated ten-man Arsenal at Dean Court, with Ryan Christie rounding-off a well-worked set-piece routine, before Justin Kluivert made the points secure from the penalty spot. This saw the Cherries climb up to 11th, despite losing their last two on the road, seeking to avoid three successive Premier League defeats away from home without scoring for the first time since February 2023. Will Villa make home advantage count?

Aston Villa Team News
Jaden Philogene's late red card in West London means he is suspended. Elsewhere, fit again Ezri Konsa and John McGinn both returned to the team against Bologna, with the pair likely to start again, although the former could shift over to centre-back, with Matty Cash therefore returning on the right. Boubacar Kamara came off the bench on Tuesday, making his first appearance since mid-February following a knee injury, while Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendía are also back in contention after even longer injury lay-offs, with Mings back in a matchday squad for the first time since the opening day of last season this week.
Aston Villa predicted lineup vs Bournemouth: (4-2-2-2): Martínez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Onana, Tielemans, McGinn, Bailey; Rogers, Watkins.
Aston Villa Player to Watch vs Bournemouth
Jhon Durán started only his second match of the season in mid-week, the other coming in the EFL Cup at Wycombe, despite having now scored seven times in all competitions. Here though, Ollie Watkins will return to lead the attack, looking to add to his five goals in his last five Premier League outings.
Bournemouth Team News
Following an impressive victory over Arsenal, there's little reason for Andoni Iraola to tinker. He will be forced into one change, as it was confirmed on Thursday that midfielder Alex Scott has 'undergone a successful procedure to repair a meniscus injury'. Elsewhere, Julián Araujo and Adam Smith appear to be timesharing the right-back spot, so it's tough to know who will start this week. After both Ryan Christie and Justin Kluivert scored off the bench, will either or perhaps both come into the team? Lastly, good news for USMNT fans, Tyler Adams was amongst the substitutes last weekend, having not been seen since the Copa América following back surgery, featuring for only nine minutes in the Premier League since Easter, this coming in May.
Bournemouth predicted lineup vs Aston Villa: (4-2-3-1): Arrizabalaga; Araujo, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Cook, Christie, Tavernier, Semenyo, Ouattara; Evanilson.
Bournemouth Player to Watch vs Aston Villa
Evanilson has still only scored once since his big-money move from Porto, on target during the hammering of Southampton, so can the Brazilian add to his tally in the Midlands?
Aston Villa vs Bournemouth Prediction
We are expecting Aston Villa to make home advantage count. The Claret and Blue Army have won 21 of their last 30 Premier League home games, losing only four, so we're expecting them to be just too strong for Bournemouth: Aston Villa 2-1 Bournemouth.
