Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest - Premier League: TV channel, prediction, team news and lineups
By Ben Gray
Arsenal are unbeaten in 13 home games against Nottingham Forest, dating back to March 1989, winning each of the last five, a streak they very much need to extend.
Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest Preview
Between the October and November international windows, Arsenal won only two of seven matches across all competitions, their only victories coming over Shakhtar Donetsk and Preston North End, form they must substantially improve if they're to remain in the title race. The Gunners have failed to win four successive Premier League fixtures for the first time since April 2023, most-recently dropping points in five on the bounce during the dark days of December 2020.
A fortnight ago, Mikel Arteta's team were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, taking the lead through Gabriel Martinelli on the hour mark, before Leandro Trossard squandered a golden chance to win it with the last kick of the afternoon. Following back-to-back away defeats at Bournemouth and Newcastle, the Gunners find themselves fourth, nine points adrift league-leaders Liverpool, under pressure to not only collect all three points here, but commence a winning streak if they're to remain in the hunt.
Nottingham Forest meantime kick off level on points with their hosts so, if Arsenal are still in the title race, why aren't they? While the Gunners endured a month of misery, Nuno Espírito Santo's side claimed three successive victories, beating Crystal Palace, Leicester and West Ham, before their bubble was rather burst by Newcastle two weeks ago, defeated 3-1 at the City Ground, despite taking the lead thanks to Murillo's first-ever senior goal.
Nevertheless, that was only the Garibaldi Reds' second defeat of the season so far and they remain unbeaten on the road, still the only side to defeat Arne Slot's Liverpool in any competition. Forest fans are dreaming of a return to European football, the two-time European champions most-recently featured in UEFA competition in 1996, while their current position of fifth would represent their best campaign since coming third 30 years ago. So, can the visitors throw a major wrench into Arsenal's flailing title aspirations?

Arsenal Team News
The major positive to take away from the Chelsea game was the return of Martin Ødegaard, who completed 90 minutes, his first Arsenal start since 31 August, before not going away with Norway to continue his rehab. In less good news, Benjamin White had knee surgery during the international break, meaning he will be sidelined for, at the very least, six weeks. Thus, Jurriën Timber will start at right-back, while there is optimism that fit again Riccardo Calafiori could return on the other side, but Gooners everywhere are also praying that the perennially injured Takehiro Tomiyasu get and then remain fit, having seen only six minutes of action this season. Lastly, neither Declan Rice, who's nursing a broken toe, nor Bukayo Saka went away with England, but both should be good to go here.
Arsenal predicted lineup vs Nottingham Forest: (4-2-3-1): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Rice, Partey, Saka, Ødegaard, Martinelli; Havertz.
Arsenal Player to Watch vs Nottingham Forest
Kai Havertz has seven goals to his name this season, six of which have come in North London, with 13 of his last 19 goals for Arsenal coming in home matches. Having also netted during Germany's hammering of Bosnia last Saturday, Havertz remains the Gunners' most-likely goal-threat.
Nottingham Forest Team News
During his three-match touchline ban, Nuno Espírito Santo's side won all three games, before he returned to the dugout against Newcastle and witnessed a defeat. Coincidence? Yes, almost certainly! Here, he's expected to name an unchanged lineup, featuring Ryan Yates and Nicolás Domínguez at the base of midfield, chosen over James Ward-Prowse and Elliot Anderson, while pre-season first-choice duo Danilo and Ibrahim Sangaré remain sidelined long-term.
Nottingham Forest predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (4-3-3): Sels; Aina, Milenković, Murillo, Moreno; Yates, Domínguez, Gibbs-White; Elanga, Hudson-Odoi, Wood.
Nottingham Forest Player to Watch vs Arsenal
Chris Wood took his tally to 41 international goals last week, bagging a brace against Vanuatu and then a hat-trick against Samoa three days later during OFC World Cup qualifying. This merely continues his excellent club form, given that Wood has eight Premier League goals to his name already, although he's only ever netted once in 12 meetings with Arsenal, this coming behind-closed-doors in 2021.
Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest Prediction
We are backing Arsenal to claim a very narrow, hard-fought victory. It certainly won't be easy but, with Ødegaard and Saka back in the side, we can see Mikel Arteta's team collecting three precious points, even if Forest will be no push-overs : Arsenal 2-1 Nottingham Forest.
