Arsenal are aiming to win three successive Premier League home games against Liverpool for the first time since 2006, but Mikel Arteta's team are depleted, so will Arne Slot's side roll on?
Arsenal vs Liverpool Preview
Following that catastrophic defeat at Bournemouth, Arsenal really cannot afford another slip-up here if they're to avoid falling a significant distance behind in the title race. Last weekend, everything that could've gone wrong did for the Gunners, seeing William Saliba sent off in the first half, before two late goals saw them depart Dean Court defeated. This was a first loss of the season for Mikel Arteta's team, but the third time they've failed to win after seeing a man sent off in the first half.
Thus, they would fall seven points behind early pace-setters Liverpool if they're beaten again here, which would look somewhat insurmountable, even with 87 points still to play for. On Tuesday, Arsenal did defeat Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 in the Champions League, Gabriel Martinelli's shot ricocheting in via the post and then Dmytro Riznyk's backside, but one could tell that everyone inside that stadium was already thinking ahead to this heavyweight, potentially season-defining, clash.
No such concerns for Liverpool supporters, considering their side have won 11 of 12 outings in all competitions thus far. In last Sunday's marquee match-up, the Reds defeated Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield, with Mohamed Salah converting a spot-kick, before Curtis Jones poked home the winner.
Then, on Wednesday, Arne Slot's side made it three wins from three in the Champions League, one of only two sides who can boast a perfect record, this time defeating RB Leipzig 1-0; Salah's goal-bound effort poked in, from mere picometres out, by Darwin Núñez. Slot has become the first manager, in charge of any top-flight English club, to win 11 of his first 12 matches, while the Reds have also began a campaign with six consecutive away wins for the first time in their 132-year history. So, can Liverpool pull clear of Arsenal at the top of the table with a statement Sunday afternoon success in the capital?

Arsenal Team News
Arsenal come into this one with a substantial injury crisis. In defence, William Saliba is suspended, Riccardo Calafiori is definitely injured, having hobbled off on Tuesday, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney are also sidelined, while Jurriën Timber isn't likely to feature either, not seen since 1 October.
Thus, Benjamin White is set to shift across to centre-back, Thomas Partey could fill-in at right-back, as he did during the second half against Shakhtar Donetsk, while fit again Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior and 18 year old Myles Lewis-Skelly are the left-back choices. To make matters worse, Bukayo Saka is a doubt, having not featured since being taken off at Wembley 17 days ago, while captain Martin Ødegaard is also out long-term. If Gooners' prayers are not answered and Saka isn't good to go, either Raheem Sterling, as he did briefly at Bournemouth, or Gabriel Jesus, as he did in mid-week, will deputise on the right.
Arsenal predicted lineup vs Liverpool: (4-4-1-1): Raya; Partey, White, Gabriel, Kiwior; Rice, Merino, Jesus, Martinelli; Trossard, Havertz.
Arsenal Player to Watch vs Liverpool
In the absence of Ødegaard and Saka, Arsenal really lack attacking firepower, so they'll need Gabriel Martinelli to be at his blistering best, having previously scored five goals in his career against Liverpool, the joint-most of any single opponent.
Liverpool Team News
The visitors travel without Alisson, meaning Caoimhín Kelleher will continue to don the gloves, as well as Diogo Jota, who suffered a 'chest injury' last Sunday, a big blow considering he's scored eight times against Arsenal, including a pair of braces at the Emirates. In midfield, Arne Slot has a tough decision to make. Curtis Jones was excellent against Chelsea, capping off his display by scoring the winner, so if he starts who missed out? Andy Robertson is likely to return in place of Kostas Tsimikas at left-back, while it's also four from three in attack, with Luis Díaz set to return on the left; Federico Chiesa remains sidelined.
Liverpool predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (4-3-3): Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Konaté, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Gakpo, Luis Díaz.
Liverpool Player to Watch vs Arsenal
Mohamed Salah has scored seven times already this season, so will he add to his ten career goals against Arsenal? Nine of these have come when bedecked in Liverpool colours, although he was also the sixth scorer when Chelsea demolished Arsenal 6-0 on the occasion of Arsène Wenger's 1,000th game in 2014; bet you didn't know that!
Arsenal vs Liverpool Prediction
Arsenal have won 35 of their last 45 Premier League home games, losing only four, but we do make Liverpool favourites for this one, largely due to the Gunners' absentees. Whatever the outcome, this promises to be a goal-fest. Since the start of 2016, their 17 league encounters have produced 70 goals, that's a goal every 22 minutes on average, with both teams scoring in 13 of these fixtures, so all neutrals tuning in around the world are likely to be entertained: Arsenal 1-2 Liverpool.
