Tottenham Hotspur’s glorious start to the campaign has hit a few roadblocks lately. They have now lost back-to-back games. First against Chelsea and then Wolves. Even more damaging than the losses have been the injuries they have picked up. James Maddison and Micky van de Ven, two of their best players, are not expected to return to action this year.

As a result, Tottenham Hotspur might now need to strengthen in the January transfer window, if they did not already. And one Chelsea player seems to be in their sights.

Chelsea have certainly looked much better as the season has progressed. Defensively, they have been one of the best in the league. But one centre-back who has got lost in the shuffle since the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino is Trevoh Chalobah.

As reported by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a January move for Chalobah following Van de Ven’s injury. It is believed that Bayern Munich have an interest in the Chelsea defender as well.

Chalobah has always been a solid presence at the back for Chelsea, whenever given the chance. But with the likes of Thiago Silva, Axel Disasi, Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile ahead of him in the pecking order, it might be time for him to head for the exit door.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham Hotspur do end up making a move for Chalobah or not. Someone like him could be a solid addition to Ange Postecoglou’s squad. He is very underrated and might surprise a lot of people if given a consistent run in the team.

Chelsea are believed to be open to the idea of Chalobah leaving as well. But rumours in the summer suggested that they wanted a £50 million transfer fee, which might prove steep.
