Arsenal will be active in the January transfer window. Mikel Arteta has been informed by a Premier League rival he must pay £80m for his chief target.

Arsenal are flying right now. They remain one of just two Premier League sides to be unbeaten so far this season – The other team shall not be named. For Mikel Arteta, he can attribute this to some fine work in the summer transfer window, which included breaking his transfer record to sign Declan Rice from West Ham for upwards of £100m.

The January transfer window is expected to be a little less frivolous from Arsenal’s perspective. Given their budget from the summer transfer window and a permanent move for David Raya imminent, their transfer spending in January could be limited. Still, if an opportunity arises for the Emirates Stadium outfit, then they are best placed to blow that budget out of the window to make a great deal happen.

Arsenal handed £80m price for Mikel Arteta target Ivan Toney

According to a report by the Evening Standard, Ivan Toney has been valued at £80m by his current club Brentford. The English striker is serving his ban, but will be available to play football again in January, hence the interest from some Premier League clubs. He will likely look for a fresh opportunity to prove himself.

The current striker options for Arsenal include Eddie Nketiah, who Mikel Arteta is a massive fan of and Gabriel Jesus, who is one of the most skilful players in the world but doesn’t have a great injury record.

Signing Ivan Toney means one of them will likely look for a way out. In my opinion, it will be Gabriel Jesus, since Eddie Nketiah could learn a lot from Ivan Toney.

Do you think Arsenal will sign Ivan Toney for the asking price of £80m?
