It’s been an exhausting start of the season for Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff. Between the situations of Antony and Jadon Sancho, things have gone poorly without even considering what is happening on the field for the Red Devils. The club currently sits in 8th, 11 points from the top of the table, just ten matches into the season. Looking at United’s win in the Premier League, three of these wins have come against the bottom five in the table.

There’s no direct and distinct reason for Manchester United’s woes. While Andre Onana has been better as of late, he was not good enough in some of the early games in the season. The offence has dried up, and the backline has also had its fair share of problems, both through performance and injuries. All facets of the squad are holding blame this season, but now fans are beginning to question whether it’s time for Erik ten Hag to go.

On Sunday, October 29th, the United faithful saw their side concede three goals to their Manchester rivals at Old Trafford. Erling Haaland stole the show with a brace, while Manchester United barely put up a fight. Derby games are important, and losing them always makes you feel sour. Nonetheless, the angst to Erik ten Hag is starting to feel justified. The Dutchman was supposed to flip the script for United and push them towards a bright future, but things have now gotten worse.

The Glazers’ (and soon Ratcliffe’s) decision to either back or sack Erik ten Hag will likely come down to what their standards are. The reality is that rivals Manchester City are in a different world in terms of the level of talent and domination. The Red Devils look closer to Brighton or Aston Villa in talent now, and to be fair to those sides, they have been better this season.

Will Erik ten Hag be relieved of his duties sometime this season? It feels like things are getting closer to a tipping point.
