Given the frustration shown by Andre Onana, Manchester United could actually RECALL their former shot-stopper David de Gea.

While the grass may not always be greener on the other side, it certainly did feel that way for manager Erik ten Hag at the start of this season. The goalkeeper Andre Onana, who he brought in to replace the out-of-contract David de Gea, seemed to actually worsen the team. Given his mistakes, he has seemed like a liability at the start of this season.

Although, in fairness to the Cameroonian goalkeeper, he did put in am emphatic display in the Champions League on Tuesday night, rescuing three points as he denied a penalty with the last action of the game.

Still, this doesn’t necessarily make amends for his former mistakes. Unless he goes on a consistent run of form, Man United are likely to consider strengthening in this area, as they cannot be sentimental about their big investment, if that investment worsens the team like Andre Onana.

Manchester United could actually RECALL David de Gea for Andre Onana

According to a report by The Sun, Manchester United are contemplating bringing back David de Gea on a short-term deal. This is only four months after his previous deal at Old Trafford ran out, allowing the Spaniard to leave for free.

Since then, though, David de Gea has been without a club. Ageing at 32 years old, he still has some years of life left in him as a goalkeeper. Therefore, this could be a wise move from Man United.

As the old saying goes, once a red devil, always a red devil. This wouldn’t be the only time where United have recalled a former player of theirs to do a job for them during a time of need. Think about Cristiano Ronaldo and Jonny Evans in recent seasons.

Meanwhile, Onana has made a BOLD prediction about the rest of this season.
