Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will rival Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou in the transfer window for the signing of a “fine young winger”.

Arsenal will be active in the January transfer window. However, given their option to buy David Raya in the summer, they may be more frugal since Mikel Arteta seems to favour a move for the Spanish loanee. Another team who will be active is their North London rivals Spurs, who have strengthened the squad massively under new boss Ange Postecoglou.

The points were shared in the two club’s first meeting of the season. Remaining the only two unbeaten teams in the Premier League so far this season, it appears to be North London dominance in England under the two managers with fresh approaches.

Arsenal and Spurs battle to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao

According to a report by 90min, Arsenal and Spurs will be two of the four clubs interested in signing Nico Williams ahead of his contract expiry in 2024. It’s thought that Liverpool and Aston Villa will be interested to sign the Athletic Bilbao sensation as well.

As summarised in the report, Nico Williams has emerged as one of the continent’s “finest young wingers” of late. Being a mainstay in this Athletic side who are sixth at the moment and finished eighth last season, it could be detrimental if they lose him, particularly on a free deal.

However, this is the nature of the game and as one of the best young wingers in the world, he will seek a new club to sign for in the coming months. From Athletic Club’s perspective, they may favour a sale in January, so they can at least recuperate some cash for his sale.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are targeting this fringe goalkeeper under Arteta.
