Manchester United face Copenhagen in the Champions League tonight. Ahead of the match, a club legend has addressed the Sofyan Amrabat concern.

Manchester United need a win in the Champions League tonight. If anything, looking at their group stage opponents, it is Copenhagen who you’d look at for three points. But given how their opening two games have gone in the competition, the odds aren’t in favour of Erik ten Hag’s side. This game has come a must-win because if not, United risk taking zero points from their opening three games.

Erik ten Hag has some tactical considerations to ponder too. Let’s not forget that Casemiro is suspended and he will not be able to feature in this match. Luckily, Erik ten Hag recruited in the summer by signing Sofyan Amrabat, who is able to fill this role.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville addressed Sofyan Amrabat concern

However, the concern with the Moroccan midfielder is how well he’ll play without Casemiro. Manchester United legend Gary Neville has spoken about the likelihood of Amrabat covering the defensive duties against Copenhagen by himself.

"“And I’ve always felt that, he’s not a holding midfield player but he’s played in that position alongside Casemiro where he’ll get on the ball and play and that’s what Erik ten Hag wants.” – Gary Neville on Sofyan Amrabat (quoted by MEN)"

While Sofyan Amrabat is able to fulfil his defensive duties in the midfield, Neville feels that Erik ten Hag will get the best out of him when he’s used in a midfield pivot alongside Casemiro. Due to this not being possible tonight, Manchester United fans may see the best out of their summer signing when his teammate Casemiro returns to the starting eleven after serving his suspension.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag has revealed his January transfer plan.
