Arsenal play their third match in the Champions League tonight against Sevilla. That said, Mikel Arteta is set to make a very bold lineup choice.

We had a go at out Arsenal predicted lineup ahead of the Champions League fixture tonight against Sevilla. However, as we all know, it’s becoming more and more impossible to predict any Mikel Arteta lineup.

In the prediction, we went for David Raya to be dropped. This is due to Aaron Ramsdale needing minutes and with Raya making a few mistakes in recent matches, it seems like the perfect occasion to play the Englishman.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is expected to start David Raya against Sevilla

However, contrary to popular belief, it’s believed that David Raya is set to start the match against Sevilla tonight. That’s according to talkSPORT, who believe that Raya will get in ahead of Ramsdale, despite Ramsdale returning to the squad.

Ramsdale missed the recent Premier League draw against Chelsea. He was missing from the squad because of the birth of his child, which Mikel Arteta described as life’s most beautiful moment. But now he’s back with the squad, it could be yet another bench appearance for Ramsdale, who remains professional and supportive of his teammates.

Mikel Arteta has spoke about his desire to find a plan which suits both goalkeeper, as he has stressed the importance of having two great players in each position. While this is a smart move, it may not be possible in practice with players’ egos not allowing for competition.

Luckily, though, Arteta has two professional goalkeepers who are capable of uplifting each other and providing healthy competition. The media portrays it to be hostile, but the actual footage which emerges of Raya and Ramsdale together shows the opposite. Who knows? This might be the game where Arteta rotates his goalkeepers mid-match.
