Chelsea are prepared to sacrifice their veteran next season as Mauricio Pochettino aims to develop the younger players in the squad.

Chelsea don’t look like the great club they are right now. Even with Mauricio Pochettino at the helm, the Blues struggle to get a consistent run of wins on the board. Admittedly, the Argentine has a chance to turn his fortune around this evening as he hosts his first London derby against Arsenal as Chelsea boss.

It’s not all doom and gloom at Stamford Bridge. Aside from having an endless supply of money to spend, they are building some good foundations for the future. A factor with Chelsea which often goes overlooked is that they are promoting youth products. They have a young starting eleven as it is, so with the likes of Levi Colwill and Cole Palmer making a name for themselves, the future looks bright at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will allow Thiago Silva to leave next year

Although, the production of youth could come at another player’s expense. According to a report from Football Insider, Chelsea could allow Thiago Silva to leave at the end of the season when his contract expires, since Pochettino would prefer to focus on developing his youth players.

Silva has been a great asset to Chelsea since he originally signed. His experience at the back was pivotal and he proved all the doubters of the transfer wrong. Still a mainstay in the starting eleven, the young players around him have learnt a thing or two from one of the best defenders of all time.

What’s next for Thiago Silva remains to be seen, but if recent reports are anything to believe, then it won’t be at Stamford Bridge. Fans can enjoy their final months with the Brazilian at the back.
