New Manager – New Approach for Tottenham

As mentioned earlier, Tottenham Hotspur played a huge gamble in completely changing the dressing room. In addition to the new players, they signed Australian Ange Postecoglou as their head coach.  He was fairly new to the London side but had a great track record with the Celtics. Winner of Scottish Manager of the League led the team to a league treble and also instilled a winning mentality in the Scottish giants.

Talking about his approach with the Spurs, the “No nonsense” coach did not shy away from making bold decisions. Putting faith in the newcomers, Postecoglou fielded a completely different side from the last season. The Whites have already played against 3 big teams (Man United, Liverpool and Arsenal), and won 7 points from a possible 9. This encouraging sign highlights how Postecoglou’s press and long-ball approach have worked well for the team.

Ange Postecoglou has identified traits of his players and allowed them to flourish in their positions. The defensive presence of Yves Bissouma is combined with the young energy of Pape Sarr in the middle of the field while the creativity of Maddison is complemented by the pace and finishing of Son. On the wings also Postecoglou has sufficient pace and width. This is a very crucial factor of the boss’s plan, where gaps created on the field open many scoring opportunities for the team. With an impressive win percentage (53) throughout his 26-year-long career, Postecoglou seems a perfect fit for the Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur will be playing against the city Rivals Fulham on Monday, who knocked them out of the EFL cup on penalties. But the fans would be hoping that all the above-mentioned points once again prove the difference maker in the game.
