A strong midfield structure

The new signings and new manager clearly changed the way Tottenham played over the years. Instead of a 4-3-3 format, the Spurs now play in a 4-2-3-1 shape, which drew more outcomes from the positional players. Maddison has been a top performer for the team so far,  while Sarr and Bissouma provide a perfect connection between defense and offense. Fullbacks Porro and Udogie have some time drifted in the frontline – which forced the defensive midfielders to fill in the back line, but Sarr and Bissouma have excelled in the same.

On the attacking front, newly appointed Captain, Son has found the perfect partner in crime – James Maddison. Former Leicester City craftsman lived up to his price tag until now and is leading the team in G+A data with 7 goal contributions. He also leads the league in assists (5). As for the wide players, Kulusevski is second in the team with 2.6 key passes per game and scored 2 goals. His goal in the added minutes against Sheffield United holds much value now, as the team came from behind to win the game. Though Richarlison and Soloman shared the left-wing spot in the season, they integrated well into the game-building. In all a balanced and strong midfield handed Tottenham an upper hand in many games.
