We are nearing the return of the premier league games with 2nd international break coming to its conclusion. Tottenham Hotspur are sitting on the top of the table despite losing their manager and two impactful stars in the same transfer window. In 8 games played so far, the Spurs have scored 18 goals (fourth highest) and conceded 8 (Third lowest), while remaining only the second side unbeaten in the league.

The London side fans would be hoping for similar performances in the upcoming matches and win their 3rd overall league title – after a staggering 63-year gap. Well, they have played well so far and with luck playing its part in their favor, the Spurs deserve to be at the top of the tale. We will discuss some of the important factors that contributed to the Spurs’ recent run of form,

After a disappointing 8th-place finish, the Spurs were certainly desperate to add some new and impactful faces to the roster. With a huge decline in Lloris’ performances and a certain departure of Harry Kane in the summer, Spurs did pretty well with their additions.

They primarily added creativity in the form of Maddison and Kulusevski – who could run well with the ball and make decisive passes in the final third. Also, they addressed their defense with a bit lesser-known yet very productive performers like Pedro Porro and Van De Ven. They not only were introduced into the starting lineup but became integral parts of Coach Postecoglou’s tactics. The addition of Empoli shot-stopper Guglielmo Vicario proved a master class for the team – who despite a small sample size of 8 games, stands second in the “most clean sheets” this season. This actually shows how well the Italian adapted to the Premier League in a short amount of time.
