CM: Alexis Mac Allister – He may be subbed off at half-time is the first-half starts in Liverpool’s favour, given his late return from the international break. But since he remains injury free, Klopp will start him as he’s an excellent dictator of play and could be needed for composure in the heart of midfield.

CM: Dominik Szoboszlai – I don’t think anyone will argue with me on this one. Perhaps the signing of the summer, Szoboszlai has had that much of an impact at Liverpool that him not starting in a match like this isn’t fathomable. He’ll have another impressive display against those from up the road.

CM: Ryan Gravenberch – It could be the first Premier League start for Ryan Gravenberch after his solid displays in the Europa League and from the bench domestically. Given the midfield battle which will be an important one, Gravenberch gets the physical edge over Elliott, who could always be slotted in when the game calls for greater energy.
